Case 2013-22 Cobourg Jail, Investigation
C.H.A.P.S. along with our friends from C.O.P.S. joined forces to investigate the King George Inn formerly known as the Cobourg Jail. The building was originally built in 1906 and housed many dangerous criminals, and countless homeless men, women and children, many with mental illnesses. The jail closed it's doors in 1998. The front portion of the building was originally the Governor's mansion and now houses MacAllisters Grill and Tavern.
Cobourg Police Officer Plaques Unveiled
The Cobourg Police Service has unveied two portraits of former Cobourg police officers who died in the line of duty. Constable William Rourke died in 1915 and Constable Chris Garrett was killed in 2004. The portraits have been done by local artist Karl Barnhart and will be displayed on a wall at the police office.
