Top Secret Fuel Network UK - Kelmarsh
One of the great British engineering projects of the 20th Century is completely hidden from view, traversing hundreds of miles across the country. There’s no trace of it except for a series of small holes on the tarmacs of the UK’s major airports, including London Heathrow.
What lies beneath is a fuel network of colossal scale – one which carries aviation fuel from the refineries where it’s unloaded straight to the aircraft waiting to be topped up.
This is how it was during WW2 and to stop the enemy from bombing our fuel reserves the government decided to burying our fuel tanks and pipes underground.
It was created not with flights to far-flung destinations in mind, but the very survival of the UK. And the exact location of the network is still not publicly known.
The origins of this underground network date back to before World War Two. A secret pipeline was built between Liverpool’s Stanlow Refinery all the way to Bristol’s Avonmouth Docks and then fed into national road and rail distribution networks.
In September 1939, war broke out, and the need for a protected network became more pressing. As the war progressed and Germany occupied Holland, Belgium and France, Britain became more vulnerable to enemy bombers. There was also the need to send fuel from the western ports through to the airfields in the east of the UK.
But sending it via the roads and rail made the precious fuel far too vulnerable to aerial attack. The solution was to bury a pipeline – safe from enemy bombers.
The project – the Government Pipelines and Storage System (GPSS) – was carried out with the utmost secrecy; the pipeline channels were even dug at night so that enemy reconnaissance aircraft couldn’t see any interesting activity.
The network ended up being able to supply fuel to all of the airfields used by British and American bombers that carried out raids over Germany and occupied Europe, and was also used by the Allied armies that landed in France in June 1944, which was called Pluto (Pipeline Under The Ocean).
Officially, this network is still a state secret. That’s despite the fact that in 2015 the GPSS was sold to a Spanish company and is now known as the CLH Pipeline System. An approximate map of the pipeline can be seen in Scott’s video and on the CLH website, but the exact position has not been made public.

Kelmarsh Rail Tunnel is a testament of British engineering. These once provided our industry and people a means of transport which connected the country. Now these decaying monuments provided us with an insight to how our history once was. This short film captures these amazing structures in there decaying state.

Exploring Abandoned British Army underground Bunker, we found an underground bunker i have no idea what part of the British army it is from, i know its some form of army related bunker, i think.
Standedge Tunnel Above Ground
Flights near to Pule Hill by the A62 just outside of Marsden. I named this video as I did because directly below the aircraft and several feet underground runs the Standedge tunnels as evidenced by the tunnel vents that can be seen in the video.
BRITAIN'S LOST AND ABANDONED RAILWAYS Northampton former line to Bedford Burryport Road
Closed to passengers in 1964 the route of the Northampton to Bedford Line is still clearly visible both from the air and at ground level, certainly within Northampton.
In this short video we take a look at the point where the line crossed the new Burryport Road on the Brackmills Industrial Estate when that area was developed.
The westbound section which runs back towards Northampton was purchased by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation in 2013 for the sum of £1.5m with the intention of providing a dedicated footpath/cycleway running for some two miles.
There are signs that works began with the lifting of sections of track, some complete and some dismantled but the project seems to have ultimately been abandoned too.
The WNDC has now been dissolved and we believe this asset has been passed to Northamptonshire County Council.
We will investigate and if possible issue an updated video at some point.

EXPLORING A WORLD WAR II AIRFIELD | RAF HUNSDON
I was joined by a subscriber named Jamie who kindly offered to take me on a tour of the site of the former RAF Hunsdon airfield, on the Hertfordshire/ Essex border.
I filmed this earlier in the summer, so it was a baking hot day. We found many different types of pillboxes, an underground battlefield headquarters bunker (the highlight for me!), air raid shelters, slit trenches belonging to the airfields perimeter defences, a parachute store building, hardstanding where fighter planes would of once stood awaiting combat, ammunition store buildings, toilet and barrack blocks and the former runways themselves!
Sadly, all the hangars have been demolished, along with several other structures.
