Canada's Day at Kelso Beach - Owen Sound
This video is just a short piece of the fun at Kelso. It is not an accurate representation of all the activities at the park. There was face painting, gymnastics presentation, musical performances, and of course awesome fireworks at night.
All in all, it was a great time and the kids had a lot of fun!

Kelso Park Improvements
In the early 1980's Kelso Beach Park in Owen Sound was relatively undeveloped. It was named after Henry Kelso, the long time Principal of Victoria School. Along with his students, he cleaned the area of years of detritus from the lumber mills in the area and turned it into a pleasant place to visit. When the new grain elevator was built in 1925, sand excavated for the construction of the foundation was hydraulically pumped across the river to create the sand beach. As reporter Don Alexander explains, the park was due for an overhaul in the early 1980;s.

Good Cheer Splash Pad in Owen Sound
Locals and visitors beat the heat as they take in the Good Cheer Splash Pad at Kelso Beach Park. The Scenic City Order of Good Cheer opened the splash pad in June. It's right near a picnic shelter, playground, swimming access to Georgian Bay, and a paved, multi-use trail that runs the length of the inner harbour.
