Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise - Seward, Alaska
The cruise will travel through the protected waters of Resurrection Bay and continue around Cape Aialik into Aialik Bay to view Holgate Glacier.
A National Park Ranger will be onboard to provide a detailed narrative on the history, ecology, geology, and wildlife in the area. They are always more than happy to answer your questions during the cruise.
While in the protected waters of Aialik Bay we will begin serving our optional all-you-can-eat Alaska salmon and prime rib meal that is freshly prepared onboard. This meal is served buffet style and is consistently rated as the best of any day-cruise company in Southcentral Alaska. While you enjoy our cruising restaurant service you will be able to sit at your reserved seat inside the heated cabin and not miss out on any of the beautiful scenery.
At the end of Aialik Bay is the mighty Holgate Glacier, an actively calving tidewater glacier. We will spend time in front of the glacier to watch for calving, where giant chunks of glacial ice break off and crash into the water.
Depending on the time of year, we will explore the Chiswell Islands (part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge) or Cape Resurrection, home to thousands of nesting seabirds including puffins, kittiwakes, and cormorants. The captain will stop the boat close to the seabird nesting areas, providing great photo opportunities. We will also visit Steller sea lion colonies, where Steller sea lions gather on the rugged, rocky coastline. Sea otters, bald eagles, and mountain goats are also commonly seen along the route.

This was filmed in Kenai Fjords NP. Kenai Fjords National Park is a United States National Park established in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. The park covers an area of 669,984 acres (1,046.85 sq mi; 2,711.33 km2)[1] on the Kenai Peninsula in southcentral Alaska, near the town of Seward. The park contains the Harding Icefield, one of the largest ice fields in the United States. The park is named for the numerous fjords carved by glaciers moving down the mountains from the ice field. The field is the source of at least 38 glaciers, the largest of which is Bear Glacier. The park lies just to the west of Seward, a popular port for cruise ships. Exit Glacier is reachable by road and is a popular tour destination. The remainder of the park is primarily accessible by boat. The fjords are glacial valleys that have been submerged below sea level by a combination of rising sea levels and land subsidence.

Spent a couple of nights in Seward to earn a Junior Ranger badge from Kenai Fjords National Park and take a hike to Exit Glacier. It is here where we met up with Chris of Chris & G Travels but unfortunately I don't have any videos of it. For those of you that found us through his interview of us, this is where that was shot.

Kenai Fjords National Monument was initially designated by President Jimmy Carter on December 1, 1978, using the Antiquities Act, pending final legislation to resolve the allotment of public lands in Alaska. Establishment as a national park followed the passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980. The park protects the icefield, a narrow fringe of forested land between the mountains and the sea, and the deeply indented coastline. The park is home to a variety of terrestrial and marine mammals, including bears, whales, seals and moose,More info

CHAPTER 3: National Parks of Alaska
We've driven the long road to Alaska and we're here and ready to explore all that its national parks have to offer! The state of Alaska is home to EIGHT national parks, but only three are accessible by road. Since we're traveling via our van this trip, we decided to focus on these three parks: Denali, Kenai Fjords, and Wrangell-St. Elias.
While the scenery was breathtaking and the memories we made will last a lifetime, the trip was not without hiccups. Traveling full time with a dog definitely presented its own set of challenges this trip but we made the most of it and saw what we could! We're already planning our next trip to the great white north and we'll have a better idea of how to best see this massive state next time around.
