Pinoy Joyride - Kennon Road Joyride (Baguio Bound)
Documented my Kennon Road trip to Baguio. It was a nice sunny morning and the sights of the mountain ranges are beautiful! One of the famous zig zag roads in the Philippines, Kennon Road. Used one my favorite video games music, Outrun.
This time have to be behave since we got some senior citizen passengers with me hehehehe.
Road Condition - paved roads
Drive thrill - Average Fun, there are many cars along the road. Narrow curves.
Security - there are many houses and small towns along the road, caution on falling small debris
Rating: 4/5 :-)

NEW: LION'S HEAD 2020 | Kennon Road Baguio City
Construction of the lion's head began in 1971 under Baguio Lions Club President and later, District 301-C Governor Robert John Webber. They commissioned an Ifugao artist named Reynaldo Lopez Nauyac to carve out the lion's head from a limestone boulder. Installing iron railings around the Lion's Head limestone carving.
It was actually the brainchild of some of the pioneer members of the Baguio City (Host) Lions Club. They wanted to create a symbol that would establish the presence of the group in the area.
Now Lions Head symbolizes the face of Baguio City.

Lions Head Kennon Road in Baguio, Philippines
The lion's head along Kennon Road is the undisputed landmark that is synonymous to Baguio City. It is commonly said that a trip to Baguio City would not be complete without taking home a souvenir photograph with the famous lion head which serves as the backdrop on Kennon Road.
Local and foreign tourists make it a point to stop in Camp 6 and have their photographs taken at the base of the lion head. The 40-foot high lion head, located a few kilometers from the Kennon Road view deck, was carved by a Cordillera artist from a limestone boulder. Lions Club members of Baguio City thought of creating a symbol that would proclaim the presence of the group in this mountain resort city.

Kennon Road Joyride December 2019
Kennon Road Joyride December 2019. Kennon Road is a roadway connecting Baguio City and Benguet to the lowland provinces of Ilocos, Central Luzon and Metro Manila. It is a scenic zigzag road with a length of 41.2 km and fastest route going to Baguio. It is in this road where the famous Lion's Head was located. The road, in recent years are closed more than open specially during rainy season because of unstable slopes where rockfalls and landslides may pose dangers to commuters.
Currently, Kennon Road is undergoing rehabilitation to make it an all-weather highway. But last December 2019, with the expected influx of tourists to the City of Baguio, it was opened temporarily for commuters going up only to Baguio to declog the heavy traffic being experienced at Marcos Highway.
