I am going to do some trekking and exploring a few of the many lime stone caves in the park. I start the day with some delicious Roti Canai. KRNP (Kenong Rimpa National Park) covering area of about 121 sq. kilometers is situated in the Kenong valley, southwest of Taman Negara. This scenic valley is home to many mountain streams and Batek aboriginal tribe, abundant with exotic and unique species of flora and fauna.

The natural surroundings inspires numerous of folklore such as mango tree which bears deliciously luscious fruits. Visitors may eat as much as desired but may not take home even a single fruit lest be blighted with a curse. Folklore aside, the park offers great adventure such as exploring limestone caves and river swimming, camping and jungle trekking.

This tropical rainforest is reserved for specific purpose of fauna and flora research and opens to everyone. Speaking of tropical rainforest, humidity and confusion of the thick forest comes to our mind. Of course, important inhabitants of giant trees, lush green foliage, tigers, elephants, lots of wilderness and dangerous animals. Besides, it is home to long list of unique and interesting species. Just to list a few, there are flying lizards, insect-eating plants(pitcher plant), the rafflesia, swooping squirrels, timid mousedeers, dung beetles, lantern bugs, bats, the slow loris', a variety of birds and primates.

Some of the more special plants live are the tallest tree in the tropical rain forest, Tualang (Koompasia excelsa), gigantic ficus tree ‘pokok ara’, water lilies in pink and white colour floating on the still green waters and beautiful varieties of wild orchids clinging on the bigger trees.

For birdwatchers, dove (Chalcophaps indica), merbah red eye “Pycnonothus Prunneus” and Copsycus malabaricus,prized for their singing ability can be spotted here. Mammals such as the prickly porcupine, the deer (Tragulus javanicas) pelanduk, Malayan tapir (Tapirus indicus) or tenuk and elephants (Elephas maximus) also can be found.

“肯龙国家公园里有65种藤类，它们以尖尖的刺藤攀附在其他植物而扶摇直上，以汲取天空的阳光，”他说.

事实亦然，在热带雨林里，层层叠叠的植物可分为5个层次，最高的望天树是一层，可高达70至80米，最低的是苔藓，地衣.森林古木参天，枝叶层层相扣，结果只有2%的阳光可以穿透茂盛的林叶亲吻土地，藤类若不异军突起，也还真难挣扎求存呢！

肯龙森林公园占地 121 平方公里，地处肯龙谷（Kenong Valley），位于大汉山国家公园（Taman Negara National Park）西南方。公园内有许多千奇百怪的石灰岩溶洞。森林中除了鸟儿偶尔的啾鸣和瀑布哗哗的轻响，几乎安静得令人屏息。

步行约半小时，便可从一处溶洞前往另一处。其中最奇特的当属 Gua Batu Tinggi 溶洞, 它就像地面上刻出了一艘巨船的身形。

肯龙河Sungai Kenong从中蜿蜒流过。传说曾有一艘皇城北根的大船，满载国王的使者从此处经过，但不知为何化作岩石，于是形成了今日的溶洞。这座溶洞高出海平面约 122 到 152 米。在这里您会看到丰富的植物群落，兰草、无花果、寄生灌丛，数不胜数。

乘火车
前往肯龙森林公园需在瓜拉立卑下车（Kuala Lipis）。这条铁路连接着吉隆坡和新加坡。前去森林公园最好是乘火车在九里站（Batu 9）下车。

搭乘汽车
公园有两个入口，一处在双溪槟榔区（Kuala Sungai Pinang），乘船即到；一处在直落巴港（Teluk Bahang），开车可轻松抵达。从乔治城出发不到 45 分钟即是槟城国家公园。沿途将从北海岸公路先后经过丹绒道光（Tanjung Tokong）、丹绒武雅（Tanjung Bungah）、峇都丁宜（Batu Ferringhi）和直落巴港多个小镇，城乡风光穿插交替。直落巴港是公园的正门所在，游客也可乘船从双溪槟榔区乘船进入园中。公园内步道完善，标志详尽。

乘船
可从瓜拉立卑港乘船前往 Tanjung Kiara 港，或坐四驱车沿主干道朝 Felda Kechau Sembilan 方向行驶，穿过 Kampong Matok 即可到达。

In this video I say goodbye to Taman Negara. After starting the day with some delicious Nasi Lemak I drive from Kuala Tahan to the village of Kuala Lipis where we are the only tourists around.

I discover Malaysia off the beaten path when I go to relatively undiscovered jungle of Kenong Rimba Park.
