Kentmere Horseshoe, Lake District, UK
A long but rewarding day in the hills taking on 9 Wainwrights and 7 Hewitts.
These include Froswick, Harter Fell (Far Eastern Fells), High Street, Ill Bell, Kentmere Pike, Mardale Ill Bell, Shipman Knotts, Thornthwaite Crag, Yoke for the Wainwrights and Froswick, Harter Fell (Far Eastern Fells), High Street, Ill Bell, Kentmere Pike, Thornthwaite Crag, Yoke for the Hewitts.
The day I did this was very cold, so much so that the water in my backpack froze solid.

The Kentmere Horseshoe, Lake District - 1 August 2015
A 13 mile round trip from the village of Kentmere. Walking the Kentmere Horseshoe anti-clockwise, the route first climbs up towards Wray Crag. Then following the ridge the route picks off Shipman Knotts, Kentmere Pike and Harter Fell before descending towards Nan Bield Pass. It then climbs back to Mardale III Bell before visiting High Street and Thornthwaite Beacon before the final ridge and Frostwick, III Bell and Yoke. From here the route returns to Kentmere via Garburn Pass.

We Bagged 2 Wainrights Whilst Photographing The Kentmere Horseshoe
Our first attempt at climbing the Kentmere horseshoe didn’t go very well. The conditions were to icy and we didn’t have crampons so we ended up abandoning that plan early and staying down in the valley. This time we waited for a sunny spring day and started walking up from Longsleddle heading towards Haweswater.
The walk up was pretty simple as we just followed a track up to the top. We got some great views looking over Haweswater so we ended up sitting in this area to have dinner and take in the views. The 2nd half of the walk was pretty boring so there wasn’t much video of it and I only grabbed a couple of photos. Ticked it off the list now and apparently bagged 2 Wainrights

The Walking Englishman - Kentmere Horseshoe Part 4 - Yoke, Ill Bell and Frostwick
This movie clip is dedicated to my friends Steve, Chris and Dave. Last time on High Street with them it was in cloud and rain.... we never saw a thing beyond 5 metres. The time before I had been on High Street it was the same. This was a case of third time lucky.
