Around 5,000 people turnout to celebrate the Capricorn Coast's newest attraction, and it's only going to get better!

AILA Awards 2016: David at Pop Up Radio Australia

David Hatherly in an interview with Ian Skippen of Pop Up Radio Australia after Vee Design had received two recognitions for their two projects during the 2016 AILA Queensland Awards.

Orion Lagoon in Springfield won the Queensland Parks and Open Space Landscape Architecture Award while Keppel Kraken in Yeppoon was awarded Tourism Award of Excellence.

Hey Peeps, Join us on our Easter long weekend road trip up the to Capricorn Coast for some fun in the sun :)
It’s a good 9 hour drive from home along the Bruce Highway. Beautiful weather, stunning views and some well deserved R&R.
We did some shopping in Rockhampton, stayed in Yeppoon and got to catch up with some good friends. We also stopped by the Singing Ship in Emu Park and had a classic Sunday breakfast at the Bell Park Bakery.
Blake played at the Keppel Kraken water park and we checked in on the Fig Tree Creek Flying Fox Colony!

Council secures $10million in National Stronger Regions Funding

Council’s complete long-term vision to transform the Yeppoon Foreshore into a world class tourism destination will become an exciting reality with the Federal Government today confirming Livingstone Shire’s application for $10 million in National Stronger Regions funding has been successful.

Mayor Bill Ludwig was on hand to officially receive the good news from Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry in Rockhampton.
The money will ensure Council can fully realize Stages 4 and 5 of the Yeppoon Foreshore Revitalisation which will encompass the old hospital site, a 360 space multi-story carpark behind the Strand Hotel and major supporting trunk infrastructure. These works will be carried out over the next three years.

Livingstone Shire Council 2015/16 Budget

The centre piece of the budget is a $60million capital works program that will be critical in ensuring the Shire’s economy and our community remains on-track for a comprehensive post-cyclone recovery.

This capital works program comprises new projects and further stages of projects already commenced that have been made possible through Council’s major successes in securing approximately $26.5 million in State and Federal funding over the past 12 months.

Key areas of these capital budget expenditures include $32.5 million in new works and renewals for roads, bridges, pathways, and transport infrastructure, as well as another $5.2 million to maintain our rural and urban road networks at the highest possible standard.

A further $4.4 million will be available to deliver new water, sewerage, and waste management infrastructure, while $2.3 million will be spent on stormwater infrastructure improvements.

The budget also provides $11.8 million in major community, tourism and economic development infrastructure including Stage 2 of the Emu Park Centenary of Anzac Project and boardwalk, Stage 3 of the Yeppoon Foreshore Waterplay Feature and Amphitheatre, Stage 1 of the Yeppoon multi-storey car park, further development of The Gateway Business and Industry Precinct, major sporting and recreation facilities, Shire-wide playground upgrades and new skate-park for Glenlee.

Sport and Recreation funding will include construction of the next $1.8 million stage of the Barmaryee Multi-sports Complex which will provide joint facilities for Junior Rugby League and Capricorn Coast Netball plus fourteen new netball courts.

Livingstone Shire reflects 12-months on from Cyclone Marcia

Hundreds turned out to commemorate the 12-month anniversary of Cyclone Marcia, including a combined church service in Yeppoon, a community morning tea in Byfield, followed by a beachfront family concert. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made a flying visit to address the crowd and officially unveil the Keppel Kraken Water Play Feature. Thanks again to all involved.

Environmental legend and Plastic Bag Free Livingstone Ambassador Bob Irwin joined more than 70 local residents to help clean up Farnborough Beach over the weekend. Thanks to all who turned out to lend a hand.

Yeppoon Foreshore Revitalisation takes another giant leap forward

Livingstone Shire Council’s vision to turn the Capricorn Coast into a premier coastal destination has taken another massive leap forward with the tender for construction of the much-anticipated lagoon precinct, which will form the centrepiece of the $53million dollar Yeppoon Foreshore and Town Centre Revitalisation, to be released this week!
Construction on the lagoon itself will start in May with remedial earthworks getting underway later this month.
