Keramas Beach is a beautiful black sand beach that runs 1.8 kilometres along the south-eastern coastline of Gianyar regency in Bali. The beach is one among several beaches that line this relatively remote stretch of coastline, namely, Saba, Masceti, Cucukan, Lebih, Lepang and Watu Klotok. All beaches are easily accessible from the main highway of Jalan Ida Bagus Mantra that runs parallel to the coast from northern Sanur and eastward through the regencies of Gianyar and Klungkung in East Bali.

This year I've had the absolute pleasure of being introduced to Wayne Moffat the GM at Hotel Komune . This is a great to surf when the wind is blowing onshore on Uluwatu, Bali. Wonderful spot. You can also spot locals flying kites, Balinese ladies offering canang to the spirits of the seas, and a smattering of vacationers on the beautiful beach front villas. In a shiny day the black volcanic sand looks like filled with diamond powder. It shines.

Big, Angry Keramas - 18 April 2019
The forecast for the biggest swell of the year was a raging success, thanks Magicseaweed, Surfline etc..
There was no waiting around for the swell to fill in with big heavy lines already hammering Bali's East coast first thing in the morning. The surf cam was grainy in the early light, but it was obvious that the new swell was here and it was straight and organised.
What I arrived to was a very different looking Keramas to what I'm used to seeing. Not a single air reverse in sight. Not many turns at all for that matter. Survival was a priority for most, but there were a few guys drawing some aggressive lines and plenty of big pits were pulled into.

Chunky Keramas - 25 October 2019
The second day of this swell powered on with plenty of juice and clean conditions on Bali's East coast.
It wasn't the prettiest looking lineup, but a few barrels were threaded and there was plenty of wall to push against.
The smooth conditions lasted most of the morning after which Komang headed back to the Bukit to shoot some overhead Impossibles.

Hi family and friends! This week we ventured to Komune Resort to see if Rob could get some surfing in, unfortunately the waves were really only for pro and experienced surfers.
