Kerry Cliffs - Irland

We here at Kerry Cliffs are situated in one of the most spectacular places in the world which is South Kerry. The cliffs are located just a short distance from the beautiful fishing village of Portmagee. Portmagee was voted the top tourist town destination of Ireland in 2012 to underpin the charms of this unique location. Portmagee itself is a hive of activity as it is the gateway to that amazing and mystical site of the great Skellig Michael.
Portmagee offers you the holiday maker loads and loads to do see and enjoy. We have two fantastic traditional pubs with live traditional Irish music nightly. We also have a highly recommended restaurant with excellent food in both pubs and we have great little cafes including our own here at the Cliffs.
Caherciveen
Caherciveen is a the capital of south kerry and located between the Beenetee Mountain and the Fertha River. Cahersiveen itself has loads of little pubs and cafes and some great restaurants. Of course if you are around here on the august weekend the Celtic Music festival is a must. Caherciveen itself has many walking loops on the Mountain of Beenetee. Also there are many beautiful beaches close by and the famous Ballycarberry Castle and ring forts. There is no denying if visiting Caherciveen one has to do the ancient pilgrimage trail of Cnoic na dtobair. So here we see they is much to do between Valentia and Caherciveen. Next week I am going to take you around the rest of south Kerry. After reading these posts it is quite easy to see why you need a week minimum to enjoy south Kerry itself. I hope you enjoyed our post today

IRELAND - A Southern Roadtrip in 7 Days - Skellig Michael, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Galway
Join me as I take you on an epic 7 day roadtrip through the southern part of Ireland. This travel guide explores the top attractions and best things to do that starts with a flight from Toronto to Dublin with Air Transat, down to Wicklow Mountains and the Glendalough Monastic City, Kilkenny, Rock of Cashel, Blarney Castle, Skellig Michael, Ring of Kerry, Kerry Cliffs, Killarney, Dingle Peninsula, Cliffs of Moher, Burren National Park, Galway, and then all the way back to Dublin.
Throughout this trip, we learn the true meaning of Irish hospitality and the beauty of the dramatic countryside. The lush green rolling hills filled with sheep contrasted against the jagged and sharp coastline made for one of the most incredible roadtrips I've ever done and that includes my trip to Iceland. Skellig Michael is a must-do for lovers of puffins and Star Wars and is everything I dreamed of. 7 days was just enough to do this incredible loop but we came back wanting to see more. Portmagee
visit
In this post today we are going to highlight Portmagee. However first I am going to speak a little about Kerry Cliffs itself here in Portmagee. The Cliffs Itself is fast becoming one of the top walk way attractions in county Kerry. The cliffs are very family friendly, as there is a fence all around the walk way, to ensure your safety and the safety of your family.
Kerry cliffs is located about 2 km from Portmagee and it has been a tourist attraction with about five years, and it is a must when you visit Portmagee. You have some spectacular views on the cliffs a 360 view of the Iveragh peninsula and you see the Skellig Rocks the Puffin Island. Please feel free to browse through our site and you will see our videos which will highlight to you the sheer beauty of the cliffs.
Portmagee Village
Now let me speak about the village of Portmagee Itself for a little while. Portmagee is a beautiful fishing village located on the shores of Valentia harbour and of course it is the gateway to the amazing Skelligs rocks. Portmagee was awarded top tourist town in Ireland in 2012 which adds real credibilty to this particular location. Boats depart Portmagee daily from the village to the great rocks the season for visiting the Skelligs spans from April to September.
As you can imagine Portmagee is a hive of activity during the Skellig season with thousands of people descending on the village hoping to get out to see the amazing rocks. There are about 14 boats that go to the Skellig each day with one company who go around the rock and do not land. This service is ideal for anybody with a young family or unable to climb for whatever the reason. This service is also fantastic to you the holiday maker who is under a time constraint as you get to see the rock in this 2.5 hour cruise.
Portmagee has some fantastic accommodation and bars and cafes and restaurants and it really has it all for you and your family. It is for this reason that it was awarded the top tourist town in Ireland in 2012 a lofty achievement indeed.
I hope you have enjoyed my presentation today in the video above where I highlighted what we have to offer in the Kerry Cliffs and as you can see from the presentation we are very conscious of safety and providing a family friendly environment for you and your family enjoy the breathtaking views we have here on the cliffs in Portmagee.
Also in the video presentation I highlighted the breathtaking views of the cliffs and the wonderful places you see from the top like the Skelligs rocks, the Puffin Island, Valentia ,west Kerry ,Iveragh, just to mention a few.
So that’s it from me today guys please feel free to comment on our post today and feel free to subscribe to us on YouTube and follow us on twitter and facebook. So thank you for visiting our website guys and I hope to see you in person soon here on the Kerry cliffs Portmagee.
