Tralee Holiday - Ring of Kerry
TRALEE lies on the south west coast of Ireland, nestled in a valley gently sloping westwards to the sea, between the Slieve Mish and Stacks Mountains. It takes its name from the River Lee, in Irish Trá Lí (strand of the River Lee), which flows just south of the town into Tralee Bay.
It is the capital town of County Kerry, an area of spectacular beauty with sandy beaches, lakes, mountains, parks, historic sites and Tralee is at its heart. Tralee has all the facilities of a county capital. It is home to the world famous Rose of Tralee International Festival and Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, award winning Kerry County Museum among a range of indoor and outdoor attractions.
It boasts a range of superb visitor accommodation and easy access by air via Kerry Airport, and road, bus and rail links from the major Irish cities and ferry ports. Our friendly people invite you to join us to explore our history, culture and the natural beauty that have shaped us.
Treat yourself to what will prove to be an enormously worthwhile and enjoyable visit.

St. John's Catholic Church, Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland
I visited St. John's Parish in September 2013.
In 1854 the foundation stone of St. John's Church was laid on the site of a chapel dating back to 1780. Some artifacts of the 1780 chapel have survived - the Holy Water font, Our Lady of the Wayside statue, and the gables of the 18th century building, which are contained in the transepts of the present church. The building was completed, in 1861 with the erection of the Great Sanctuary window. In 1870 the tower and spire were added. The height of the spire is 200 feet.
