This new video was shot by one of many Indonesian workers in Japan on March 11, 2011. When the tsunami was going up Oh-kawa (Oh River) in Kesennuma City of Miyagi Prefecture, he happened to be on a riverside hotel and witnessed this incredible tide.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture. We spent our first night at Hakoneyama Terrace, a gorgeous modern cabin-esque style accommodation in the mountaints. We then visited Fumonji Temple - which has been around 500 years!

奇跡の一本松 [震災から2週間後]

この映像は、震災からわずか2週間後、まだ「奇跡の一本松」といった名が全国に浸透する以前に、FNN取材団が撮影したもの(2011年3月25日撮影)
震災により壊滅状態となった岩手・陸前高田市。
海岸付近でも、いたるところ、がれきが散乱し、堤防も破壊されている。
風光明媚(めいび)な景勝地として知られた高田松原。
かつては、うっそうと生い茂り、海岸線の砂洲いっぱいに広がっていた松林も流され、なぎ倒され、ほぼ全滅の様相。
代わって浜辺には、折れた木々の幹や、根元だけを残した木々の株だけが、無数に散在している。
しかし、高田松原の中心部から少し離れた最西部、気仙川の河口付近に、ひっそりとその「奇跡」は存在していた...。
大きく損壊した高田松原ユースホステルのすぐ間近。大津波にも耐え、1本だけ残った松の木。
誰もが心打たれるその奇跡的な光景は、やがて、さまざまな復興活動のシンボルになっていく。

This footage was shot by the FNN reporting crew (March 25th 2011) merely 2 weeks after the disaster, when the term Miracle Pine Tree was yet to be coined.
The disaster has left Rikuzentakata city of Iwate prefecture in ruins. Rubble is scattered around everywhere near the coast, and the embankment has been destroyed.
Known for its scenic beauty and picturesque landscape, Takatamatsubara was once covered by dense pine forests that extended all the way across the shoal on the shoreline.
Now those forests have been washed away, cutting a swath through the trees, almost fully annihilated.
On the other hand, there lies a countless number of broken tree trunks and stumps with only their bases remaining, scattered all around.
Nevertheless, a miracle silently remained near the mouth of the Kesen river, away from the center, at the western-most point of Takatamatsubara.
Just beside the demolished Takatamatsubara youth hostel, there stood a lone pine tree, the sole survivor of the great tsunami.
A touching and miraculous sight to anyone's eyes, the lone pine tree eventually grows to become a symbol of various restoration activities.

The tree withstood the enormous wave which struck the coastal city of Kesennuma in 2011, killing hundreds of local people. It was badly damaged in the disaster, losing most of its branches, but its new shape attracted many visitors who thought it resembled a dragon. The tree was felled on Wednesday.
Japan 'dragon tree' has decided to preserve. The tree after the devastating tsunami in 2011 was seen as a dragon, No branch of the tree could not be saved and since then it has become a center of tourist attraction, The tree common in the coastal city of Kesennuma, Japan, the focus is now rotten.
Kesennuma's picturesque coast line is scattered with fishing nets, and a harbor filled with a fishing fleet ready to bring in a fresh catch. If you like to hike, there are many trails that go to Mt.Anba or its surroundings. You can go down by the beach to Cape Iwaisaki, you can see the famed dragon tree which is very awesome.

We visited some of the old ruined remains of buildings in RIkuzentakata from the March 2011 Tohoku Earthquake, then had giant oysters for lunch before departing Iwate.
