Inaugurated in 1992 by the then Emir of the State of Qatar, The Khalifa International Tennnis & Squash Complex had an original capacity of 4500 seats and it was then renovated and enlarged in 2008 increasing its seating capacity to 7000, introducing Corporate Boxes, Upper sections middle section and lower sections. Also a remarkable VIP Tent, entertainment and public area with food courts were introduced.
The Khalifa International Tennis & Squash complex has well furnished 24 courts and all the mandatory elements to host the biggest and most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world.
How to go?
The facility is located in Al Majles Twaon Street in Al Dafna located near the corniche. To reach the Khalifa complex main entrance, turn left at the traffic signal after the Commercial Bank Building situated in the Corniche (on the right side) and drive towards Oryx Roundabout, then take right and after that take the second right again. There are 3 restaurants surrounding the QTF: Fuddruckers, Bennigans and Bhukara.
Things to Remember
Qatar ExxonMobil Open is held in the winter months in this venue. It gives visitors the opportunity to watch tennis stars real close up due to the seating arrangements.
During the tournament there will be a food square centrally located in the complex for food tasting opportunities and additional exhibits of Qatari culture. Pricing of food in the food courts is also reasonable.
QTF is using a sophisticated electronic system for tickets sales – also used for the US Open - which allows the public to see in the computer all available seats and gives them the opportunity to select the exact location in which they wish to be seated.
Tickets can also be purchased through the newly designed website of the Qatar Tennis Federation: qatartennis.org.
Those who want a full dinner afterwards the matches, visit Bennigans or Fuddruckers in the same area or stop at the Indian restaurant behind the building.
Bennigan's and Fudruckers restaurants in the complex have nice indoor play areas for the kids. Bennigan's play area is much bigger and also has an outdoor.

Djokovic pulls out of Qatar ExxonMobil Open
Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Qatar Open because of his ongoing elbow injury.
His latest withdrawal will raise doubts about if he will play at the Australian Open after the Serb had also pulled out of an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi.
Only when I'm 100% ready to play, I will be able to come back. I hope it will be soon, said the 30-year-old.
“I am sorry that I will not be able to play in front of my fans here. I have great memories of this tournament and the matches I played, like the final against Andy from last year. The atmosphere at the stadium is always wonderful, the organization is on the highest level, and I will surely miss it a lot,” the former World NO. 1 said.
The ATP tournament will be held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex from January 1 to 6.
Djokovic was hoping the Qatar tournament, which starts on Monday, where he beat Murray in the final in 2017, was intended to be part of Djokovic's warm-up for the Australian Open, which begins on January 15.
Djokovic and Andy Murray have not played a competitive match since Wimbledon because of their injury problems.
The Serb added: Unfortunately, the situation with the elbow has not changed for better since yesterday. I still feel the pain.
After the thorough consultations with the medical team, we decided to keep up with the therapies and elbow treatments.
Tournament Director Karim Alami said, “Djokovic will surely be missed at this year’s tournament but we understand that his health and fitness comes first. We wish him the best as he recovers from the injury while we hope to welcome him at the 2019 tournament.”
Alami noted that all arrangements are in place to ensure a very successful tournament and that the 2018 Qatar ExxonMobil Open will be top-notch and exciting like never before.
Many of the world's best tennis players open their seasons at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, one of two ATP World Tour events held in the Middle East. Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic have won multiple titles at this event, with Nadal's haul including the 2014 singles title and four doubles crowns (2005, '09, '11 and '15). Djokovic won back-to-back titles in 2016 and '17.

“My body was much better, much better than last year. That's for sure. My tennis is improving a little bit. I'm not playing my best tennis yet, but I'm improving every match,” he added.
In the second semi-final, between Rublev and Pella, the 27-year old Argentinean ranked World N0.64 pushed hard for the victory but in the end the 20-year-old Russian survived a match point to take the third set into the tie-break and win the tie at 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2).
