Saida or Sidon is a Phoenician city located 40 km south of Beirut -Lebanon on the Mediterranean coast; it is the third largest city in the country. Saida is well known for its touristic places such as the sea and land castles, authentic souk(market), Khan el Franj and its hammams.

Saida stadium has a great position facing the sea, amazing view could be admired when there!

The Temple of Eshmun is an ancient place of worship dedicated to Eshmun, the Phoenician god of healing. It is located near the Awali river, 2 kilometres northeast of Sidon in southwestern Lebanon. The site was occupied from the 7th century BC to the 8th century AD, suggesting an integrated relationship with the nearby city of Sidon.Although originally constructed by Sidonian king Eshmunazar II in the Achaemenid era to celebrate the city's recovered wealth and stature, the temple complex was greatly expanded by Bodashtart, Yatan-milk and later monarchs.

Day Trip from Beirut to Tyre and Sidon Lebanon
Woke up bright and early this morning to visit southern Tyre and Sidon by public transport. It was quite easy and straight forward but all together it made for a very long and hot day trip from Beirut. I first visited Tyre, to visit the Roman Ruins of the Necropolis and Hippodrome and went downtown Tyre for the harbour ruins.
After a quick kebab at the old port, I returned by bus to Sidon to visit the Castle of Sidon and the Souk. By taxi, I reached the unknown Temple of Echmoun. Finally, one last bus and taxi to make it back to Beirut. Here is a little video of my day. Let me know what you think!
