Khandar Fort is very ancient fort located in Khandar Tehsil, Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan, India. This fort is on the boundary of Ranthambore National Park. The fort has three big entrances, but they are damaged.
Located on top of a strategic vertical hill, the Khandar Fort in Sawai Madhopur could never come under an easy attack and thus was truly regarded as invincible and was a favorite of many dynasties in India. It is also said that king of this fort never lost in war. This fort also tells some historical stories by the damaged walls and gates.
The fort was long ruled by the Sisodia kings of Mewar after which it was taken over by the Mughals for a short while before coming under the direct control of the Maharajas of Jaipur in the 18th century.
This fort also belonged to Bargujar Kings and was attacked by Allaudin Khilji.It is very near to the rivers as Chambal & Banas.
There are seven temples within the fort. There is an old Jain temple which displays an exquisite work of carved rock idols of Jain Gurus. There is also a Hanuman temple with a single stone idol of Lord Hanuman with a demon under its feet. The other temples at the Khandar Fort are Chaturbhuja Temple, Gobind Devji Temple, Jagatpalji Temple, and Jayanti Mata Temple. Chaturbhuja Temple houses an impressive idol of the four armed God. An annual fair is held at the Jayanti Mata Temple. There is also the beautiful Rani Temple of the Khandar Fort located on top of the highest platform of the fort and perhaps the most magnificent part of the Fort. There are a lot of damaged sculptures here.
Other attractions at the Khandar Fort are the two huge water tanks of Ramkunda and Laxmankunda . Seven small ponds are also there but due to lack of maintenance, only four ponds are clearly visible. Tigers, leopards, and many other wild animals can be easily seen in the fort. There is Maa Jayanti And Bramani's temple in the fort and the place of Jind Baba is also famous . Mr. Bharat Lal Dwivedi, head of a Committee named as Jind Baba Seva Samiti Khandar, is working hard for the development of the esteemed temple of goddess Jayanti.

सवाई माधोपुर से लगभग 45 कि . मी . पूर्व में स्थित खण्डार का किला रणथम्भौर के सहायक दुर्ग व उसके पृष्ठरक्षक रूप में विख्यात है । यह दुर्ग चतुर्दिक सघन वन , वर्षपर्यन्त बहने वाली नदियों और अथाह जलराशि वाले तालाबों से आवृत्त एक ऐसा दुर्ग है जो सही अर्थ में प्रकृति की गोद में बसा है । खण्डार दुर्ग नैसर्गिक सौन्दर्य का खजाना है जिसके पूर्व में बनास एवं पश्चिम में गालण्डी नदियाँ बहती हैं । खण्डार का किला में गिरि दुर्ग और वन दुर्ग दोनों के गुण विद्यमान है । यह किला एक खड़ी पहाड़ी पर बना है जो एकदम सीधी और ऊँची है । अपनी आकृति में यह दुर्ग त्रिभुजाकार है । समुद्रतल से यह किला लगभग 500 मीटर तथा भूतल से लगभग 260 मीटर ऊँचा है तथा लगभग 2 – 3 कि . मी . क्षेत्रफल में फैला है ।
किले के ऊपर जाने का मार्ग पथरीला और घुमावदार है ।
दुर्ग के अन्दर पहुँचने के लिए तीन विशाल और सुदृढ़ दरवाज़ों को पार करना होता है ।

खण्डार के किले का स्वामित्व अधिकांशतः रणथम्भौर दुर्ग के साथ जुड़ा रहा तथा राव हम्मीरदेव के वीरगति पाने के साथ जुलाई 1301 ई . में रणथम्भौर के साथ खण्डार का किला भी चौहानों के हाथ से निकलकर अलाउद्दीन खिलजी के अधिकार में आगया । वर्षों तक तुगलकवंशीय सुल्तानों के अधिकार में रहने के बाद खण्डार का किला मेवाड़ के राणा सांगा के पास रहा । राणा सांगा ने रणथम्भौर के साथ खण्डार का किला भी अपनी हाड़ी रानी कर्मवती और उसके युवा पुत्रों युवराज विक्रमादित्य और उदयसिंह को प्रदान किया ।

चम्बल किनारे ⛺ Rameshwar Dham Khandhar Sawai Madhopur Rajasthan India
रामायण के अनुसार वनवास के समय भगवान राम, लक्ष्मण व सीता वर्तमान सवाई माधोपुर की खण्डार तहसील में स्थित रामेश्वर तीर्थ की जगह एक रात का विश्राम किया था। पवित्र स्थल के रूप में विख्यात यह स्थान त्रिवेणी संगम के रूप में जाना जाता है, इस स्थान पर तीन प्रमुख नदियों का मिलान होता है, इसी कारण इसे त्रिवेणी संगम नाम दिया गया है, इस जगह पर चंबल नदी , बनास नदी एवं सीप नदी आकर मिलती है, कहाँ जाता है कि प्राचीन काल में भगवान राम ने मिट्टी का शिवलिंग स्थापित करके इसी जगह पर भगवान शिव की पूजा की थी। वर्तमान में इस स्थान पर शिव भक्तों का वर्ष भर जमावड़ा लगा रहता है, चारों तरफ प्रकृति की हरियाली यहाँ के पवित्र स्थान पर चार चाँद लगा देती है। इस त्रिवेणी संगम के पास ही भगवान चतुर्भुजनाथ का मंदिर भी बना हुआ है। तीनों नदियों के पवित्र संगम स्थल के पास में परशुराम घाट बना हुआ है।मान्यता है कि भगवन परशुराम ने यहाँ तपस्या की थी।इसलिए इस स्थान को तपोभूमि के नाम से भी जाना जाता हैं।
रामेश्वर शिव लिंग के दर्शनार्थ दूर दराज से आने वाले भक्तजन त्रिवेणी में स्नान कर भगवान शिव के शिव लिंग का जलाभिषेक करते हैं, इस स्थान पर प्रतिवर्ष 'कार्तिक पूर्णिमा' एवं 'महा शिवरात्री' पर विशाल मेला भरता है, लाखों की तादाद में यहाँ पर भीड़ इकट्ठा होती है। इस स्थान को राजस्थान में मीणा जनजाति का प्रयागराज भी कहा जाता है।
वर्तमान समय में यहाँ सभी समुदायों के अनुयायियों की धर्म आस्था केन्द्र बना हुआ है।यहाँ सभी समुदायों ने अपनी-अपनी धर्मशालाएं बनवा दी हैं। वर्तमान समय में हजारों लोगों को एक साथ धर्मशालाओ में ठहराया जा सकता हैं।
प्रतिवर्ष हजारों लोग सातों धाम की यात्रा करने जाते हैं।मान्यता है कि जब भी कही यात्रा करके आओ पहले रामेश्वर धाम में स्नान करना पड़ता हैं।तब जाकर यात्रा का फल प्राप्त होता हैं। इस तरहा रामेश्वर धाम अपने महत्व में अपना अलग ही स्थान रखता हैं।

Khandar Fort (Known as Taragad Fort) is very ancient fort located in Khandar Tehsil, Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan, India. This fort is on the boundary o(f Ranthambore National Park. The fort has three big entrances, but they are damaged.
Located on top of a strategic vertical hill, the Khandar Fort in Sawai Madhopur could never come under an easy attack and thus was truly regarded as invincible and was a favorite of many dynasties in India. It is also said that king of this fort never lost in war. This fort also tells some historical stories by the damaged walls and gates.
The fort was long ruled by the Sisodia kings of Mewar after which it was taken over by the Mughals for a short while before coming under the direct control of the Maharajas of Jaipur in the 18th century.
This fort also belonged to Bargujar Kings and was attacked by Allaudin Khilji.It is very near to the rivers as Chambal & Banas.

There are seven temples within the fort. There is an old Jain temple which displays an exquisite work of carved rock idols of Jain Gurus. There is also a Hanuman temple with a single stone idol of Lord Hanuman with a demon under its feet. The other temples at the Khandar Fort are Chaturbhuja Temple, Gobind Devji Temple, Jagatpalji Temple, and Jayanti Mata Temple. Chaturbhuja Temple houses an impressive idol of the four armed God. An annual fair is held at the Jayanti Mata Temple. There is also the beautiful Rani Temple of the Khandar Fort located on top of the highest platform of the fort and perhaps the most magnificent part of the Fort. There are a lot of damaged sculptures here.
Other attractions at the Khandar Fort are the two huge water tanks of Ramkunda and Laxmankunda . Seven small ponds are also there but due to lack of maintenance, only four ponds are clearly visible. Tigers, leopards, and many other wild animals can be easily seen in the fort. There is Maa Jayanti And Bramani's temple in the fort and the place of Jind Baba is also famous . Mr. Bharat Lal Dwivedi, head of a Committee named as Jind Baba Seva Samiti Khandar, is working hard for the development of the esteemed temple of goddess Jayanti.

It is an age old fort. Accessing this fort is banned.
Still we went up. It was calm through out.
This trek was exciting.
