Khao Chong Krajok in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand
The sweeping views of sea, sand and sky meeting from atop Khao Chong Krajok will stay with visitors for its memorable natural beauty, making this a must-visit spot.
The mountain of Khao Chong Krajok is the place to drink in the stunning Prachuap coastline that lays curling elegantly into the crystal blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand. Visitors must climb to its peak via a flight of stairs, from which they can enjoy shifting views of the lush province’s interior, it’s beautiful beach and the town of Prachuap itself. Along the way they are sure to be delighted, and certainly amused, by the mountain’s resident troop of playful monkeys.
Those who do make the ascent will find it well worth it. Aside from the unparalleled perspective the peak offers, Khao Chong Krajok is the home to a mountaintop monastery founded by Rama VI and an elegant golden pagoda. Visitors can admire the traditional architecture and styling at the same time as the view, which stretches all the way to Thailand’s border with Burma.
The unbroken panorama is also notably uninterrupted by crowds of visitors, the province of Prachuap Khiri Kan being relatively free of tourists. This makes Khao Chong Krajok, located in the North of Prachuap city, especially tranquil and relaxing – all the better for enjoying the view!

The long-tailed monkeys of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Khao Chong Krachok is a small mountain where a large number of stump-tailed macaques reside. Its entrance is behind the City Hall with 396 steps to the summit at a height of 245 metres above sea level. At the summit is Wat Khao Chong Krachok, where see a replica of the Buddha’s footprint and the relics of the Buddha. The King came to attend its containing ceremony on June 12, 1958, and planted a Bodhi tree.

Thailand, Prachuap khiri Khan & Beyond 1/2
#Thailand #Prachuapkhirikhan #amazingthailand #thaiculture
Revisiting Prachuap Khiri Khan, one of my subscribers contacted me saying that there was so much more in this lovely town of Prachuap, so i decided to respond to his e-mail.
And we came into contact, once we did planning was on the way to make a second trip, and what a trip it was. Prachuap Khiri Khan's market life to its wonderful mountains and temple offered me a very serene and zen like feeling. Something that reminded of my childhood when i frequently visited Thailand, the smell and atmosphere is absolutely amazing, it really shows you Thai culture at its best.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Thailand.
When most of us think of Prachuap Khiri Khan, we think of the province and not so much the town which is the main capitol of the province of Prachuap. It is home to a Thai Airforce Base and it was an invasion point for the Japanese troops on december 8 1941 during World War II. A commemoration is held each year on the same month to remember the brave Thai airmen and civilians that fought off their invaders. Prachuap Khiri Khan hosts a variety of local hotels and has plenty of local markets often a lot of sea food caught freshly for you to indulge yourself with it. The town is very close to the Myanmar border
Today many of the Prachuap Khiri Khan residents will tell you very proudly how their ancestors fought off the Japanese invasion force. This town hosts a great many gems such as the beautiful beach of Ao Manao which is located within the Thai Airforce base for tourists and locals to enjoy its beach and local food stalls.
Ao Manao means lime bay in Thai, and within the area there is a viewpoint mountain called Khao Lommuak mountain.
The Singkhon Pass or just Singkhon, is the border crossing between Thailand and Myanm It hosts a local market right before the border control gate on the Thai side, where Burmese people also exchange and sell their products coming coming from Myanmar.
The town of Prachuap Khiri Khan, reminds me of a Thailand that was more down to earth, its people are a lot more friendly, and the few foreigners that settle there have integrated perfectly with its local population. Prachuap urban streets are smaller and have a Thainess to them, its quiet and relaxed atmosphere made me feel right at home. There is one amazing temple that is on the top of a mountain called Khao Chong Krachok, it also serves as a viewpoint and is quite popular with foreigners and out of town Thais. And its not that surprising why people would think that its a fascinating place to be at, and monks come up from time to time to pray.
The local markets in the morning like pretty much any other Thai city or town share similarities in produce and foods you can enjoy, still its always worth taking a look just because you might be a tourist and thats what we do right ?
Enjoy a coffee, get a Thai style breakfast, walk around and i urge you to be lost in the town for a while thats when u discover its hidden urban gems. Walk and walk some more until you get to that one food stall or restaurant where the locals eat that one particular Thai dish you crave so much.
Take a nice stroll on the beach boulevard which one must when visiting and if you're lucky at the end of the day, when that gruelling Thai summer heat is over, all of a sudden Markets and food stalls, restaurants, artisans show up to sell their products.

We Made it! 396 Steps! (Part 2): Monkey Temple Wat Thammikaram Worawihan, Prachuap Khiri Khan
After letting my camera, me, and Gracie cool down a bit and finishing up the last few steps, WE MADE IT to the Top of the 396 steps of Khao Chong Krachok Hill. This basically gets you to Wat Thammikaram Worawihan a.k.a. Monkey Temple.
Now, once you DO get to the top, there are still opportunities for climbing up even more steps and taking some AMAZING photos. The views from here are truly spectacular.
You will indeed read Many recommendations about how you should probably NOT climb the stairs in the afternoon/late afternoon (i.e. the hottest part of the day). Ok, that Is a pretty good suggestion. But, I will put this suggestion out there - climb when the sky is the clearest. Just take your time, take breaks, drink water/stay hydrated and ENJOY yourself. This is by far one of the greatest views in Prachuap Khiri Khan so while we felt it in our legs once we got to the top, after resting for about 10 minutes, you soon forget how long it took and, at least *I* was Incredibly Grateful we did it.
I know we will go back to PKK and I *know* we will climb this again.
Thanks for watching and joining us on our journey.
Stay tuned for some more from the beaches of Prachuap Khiri Khan - one of my Favorite places in Thailand!!

Khao Ta Mong Lai Forest Park/Urban Forest, Prachuap Khiri Kahn, Thailand
You may recognize Gracie from the Thumbnail I liked this one as, this is the part of the video where she is eating fruit from a tree.
On this particular day on our vacation to Prachuap Khiri Khan, we ended up driving the motorbike around another of the horseshoe-shaped beaches to the end. We were in full Discovery & Exploration mode. A state which I *love* and can spend HOURS doing; walking, sitting, taking video, taking pictures, doing nothing, talking, closing my eyes, smelling nature's air, or just listening to the waves lap up on the beach. The Waves on the Beach thing, I can sit and listen to for hours. Love It!
Anyway, at the end of the road on this particular mini-road trip of our this one afternoon, we end up at the Khao Ta Mong Lai Forest Park a.k.a Urban Forest in PrachuapKhiriKhan. Like all the other National Park of Thailand that I/we have experienced, this one was completely free, Very Well taken care of, quiet, and empty. LOVED IT.
So, we took about 30 minutes to stroll out to what was referred to as the view point and had a very enjoyable early afternoon pause to appreciate one of the MANY little pieces of Awesome that Thailand's natural beauty has to offer.
Thanks for watching.
Hope you enjoy!
