Khao Khad view point is a modest location with 360 degree panoramic views of what is possibly the finest scenery on the whole island of Phuket. Despite being well known by locals, many visitors do not go up to visit it as they blissfully unaware of what view they will see.
Just recently, the local government of Wichit Municipality has improved the facility on the hill top and its access, to promote it as a new tourist site. It started by upgrading the road, putting signs up, installing more lighting as well as having security personnel to ensure tourist safety 24 hours a day. This has resulted in a more active and lively atmosphere.
Kreetha Saetan, mayor, Wichi Municipality, said We try to make it easy to access. We improved two routes. The first one is at the bottom of the hill from Bor Rae village and the second route from the Nam Bor School. On a clear day you can see a great view of Koh Phi Phi, which is 40 km away and also Mai Ton Island. It's also a really good 360 degree view point.
Being home to many interesting resources, the municipality is also preparing to promote Tha Naan Island within its vicinity. The local government hired Prince of Songkhla University to carry out a feasibility study to develop Tha Naan island as a new diving location off Phuket island.
He said Wichit area is home to many stunning views and islands, including Thapao Yai and Tha Pao Noi islands. The Tha Pao Noi Island, which is under the care of the Royal Thai Navy, is still very fertile. There is also the deep sea port within this area.
The hidden gems on the east coast or south side of Phuket Island are often overlooked. But in fact, after enjoying beaches, restaurants and shopping on the west side, flipping over to the east coast, visitors to Phuket, can also enjoy so many interesting places such as Cape Panwa, the Aquarium, and even Chalong pier.
