KHAO SOK NATIONAL PARK - Thailand’s Best Day Trip, Cheow Lan Lake
Just two hours north of Krabi Thailand, Khao Sok National Park is hands down Thailand’s best day trip! Don’t miss Cheow Lan Lake where you can boat around massive limestone cliffs and glistening turquoise water. Khao Sok is truly the best of Thailand.
We hired a private boat for 1500 Thai Baht (around $45 USD) for a two hour tour around Cheow Lan Lake. There were barely any other tourists out on the lake so we really felt like we had the entire national park to ourselves. Our boat driver took us around Khao Sok Lake where we stopped at the Khao Sok floating bungalows to take a swim. That’s where Ryan decided to throw fish food in the water surrounding me so about 1,000 huge fish swarmed around me to eat! That was gross.
Other than the near “DeathbyFish”, we urge you to go to Khao Sok National Park because it is easily one of the best things to do in Thailand. Khao Sok is located in Surat Thani, about two hours north of Krabi Thailand and 3 hours north of Phuket. The close proximity to southern Thailand’s main tourist destinations makes it perfect for day trips in Thailand.
The popularity of Khao Sok National Park is just beginning, so it’s still considered one of the unexplored Thailand hot spots. Most locals we spoke to had never been to the park. If a day trip to Khao Sok is too ambitious for you, there are some amazingly immersive places to stay in Khao Sok including a handful of Cheow Lan Lake bungalows to choose from and mountain resorts deep within the national park’s forest.
We stayed in Krabi for 30 days and we wanted to explore more than the typical tourists islands that everyone heads to, so Cheow Lan Lake was a perfect Thailand island alternative.

Krabi Things To Do? Huay Toh Waterfall! (Krabi, Thailand)
Krabi Thailand Waterfall called Huay Toh.
Khao Phanom Bencha National park is the site of this cool waterfall and jungle trek, complete with viewpoint and another, smaller water fall.
Price to get in is currently just 100 THB for foreigners and 20 THB for Thais. If there are only Thais entering the park - it is free. Once a foreigner is seen - the entire group gets charged. Go figure, right? Such is life in Thailand. It has been like this all 7 years I've been here.
Huay Toh waterfall is a multi-tiered waterfall located about 27 kilometers outside Krabi town at the western base of Khao Phanom Bencha mountain peak.
The park is quite amazing, and the waterfall is worth the walk. I say in the video it's about 350m, but maybe the walk is more like 450 meters to reach the falls.
The water is clean and you can swim in the various pools. The falls are seen here on November 14th. We haven't had a good rain in about 2 weeks prior, so you can see - there is still enough water to make it worthwhile. During the height of the dry season the water is considerably less - and maybe not worth visiting this attraction during that time.
I apologize for the bouncy video. I thought the vibration reduction worked better than it shows here. I'll concentrate more on keeping steady videos from now on.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park | Thailand（高番本查国家公园）
Blessed with untouched, lush forests, mountain ranges, Krabi’s only National Park, the 31,325-rai of far-reached Khao Phanom Pencha National Park, covers parts of the municipality, AoLuek and KhaoPhanom districts. It is also Krabi’s highest altitude at 1,397 meters above the sea level, home to natural wonders like waterfalls, streams and caves, making it’s a perfect habitat for wild animals from Asian tapirs, Sumatran serows, Asiatic black bear and fishing cat to over 218 bird species such as eagles, hornbills and woodpeckers.
Waterfalls are among the must-see attractions here, with highlights are Huay To and Huay Sad waterfalls. HuayTo Waterfall, which is originated from PhanomBencha Mountain, featuring 5 cascades, each of which has its own name: Wang Sam Hap, Wang Chong Loi, Wang Doi Prong, Wang Thewada and Wang Ton Phrio, respectively. Huay To flows into KrabiYai Canal in Krabi’s provincial town. Next stop is Huay Sade Waterfall which is only 300 meters away from the park’s office. Slightly smaller, Huay Sade owns 3 cascades of crystal clear pool of refreshing water that eventually flows into Ton Canal and KrabiYai Canal. Both waterfalls offer adventurous trekking trails, which can span from two to three nights (camping involved) passing through different stops in the lush, tropical forest where you’ll enjoy panoramic sceneries. The weather is comfortable and cool all year round, however, it’s best to get the needed information ahead of your travel. Rental tent for 2-8 people is offered at 150-600 THB per night and it is 30 THB per tent per night if bring your own tents. Kindly contact the National Park’s office for more information.

Beautiful National Park & Mangrove Area in Krabi Thailand: Pa Phru Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam
New Thailand videos every Wednesday. Subscribe: Tha Pom (or more properly known as Pa Phru Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam) is a mangrove area about 35km from Krabi Town, not far from Ao Luek. It has a board walk through the mangroves and some jungle, and the mangroves have the most amazing crystal clear water! The water is so clear that you can see to the bottom of the streams. It's a nice place for an hour or 2, or longer. It's not too touristy, but it's very beautiful and unique, definitely worth seeing. You can organise tours to there from Ao Nang or Krabi Town or it takes around 40 minutes on a motor scooter to get there from Ao Nang.

Great bungalow in a fantastic location just outside the Khao Sok National Park and just off the Main Street. Big room with 2 single beds, fan, smallish bathroom, good wifi, good size balcony as well as a nice sized pool. Didn't even use the fan very much as it cooled down in the evening. Really enjoyed listening to the wildlife at nighttime and just the feeling of being in nature.Highly recommended.

How To Get To Khao Sok Thailand
Khao Sok is still one of Thailand's greatest secrets. It's nowhere near as touristy as say, Phuket. That does, however, make it a bit of an adventure to get there. So this video breaks down the most cost efficient way to get from Phuket to Khao Sok, which is by local bus.

Rungfah Farm Stay in Khao Sok - Thailand
I stayed at this farm and with this amazing family when I visited Khao Sok, Thailand this year. This farm is literally in the jungle. Far away from the big city. The mountains surronding the farm, and Khao Sok´s National park it´s just 10 min. away. Absolute an amazing experience, for a good price. They offer cooking classes, real Thai style, and you can sleep in there bungalows. They grow almost every plant that are in the cooking class. And mr. Noppadol show the plants and explain them for you. In the evening it´s time to eat dinner, the dinner you just helped prepare.
Here is a movie that I did for this nice family and Rungfah farm stay, though there business are not more then one year old. They need every help they can get to keep it going.
