At least 11 bodies were recovered while five people have been rescued at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal after the boat they were in capsized this morning during Ganesh immersion. The search operation is underway.Five people have been rescued out of 18 and we have recovered 11 bodies till now. A search operation is underway and we are trying to rescue other people as well. According to the locals, only these many people had drowned here, but we are still searching in case we find some other people, said Akhil Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP).This incident occurred at around 4:30 in the morning. At least 40 police personnel are present at the spot along with other authorities and professional swimmers. State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team is also present at the spot, he added.

भारी बारिश के बाद भोपाल के छोटे तालाब स्थित खटलापुरा मंदिर घाट पर नाव पटलने से करीब एक दर्जन लोगों के पानी में डूबने से हड़कंप मच गया। बताया जा रहा है शुक्रवार की भोर में नाव में सवार होकर करीब 19 लोग गणेश वर्सजन करने गये थे। नाव में क्षमता से अधिक लोग बैठने से नाव बीच तालाब में ही पलट गई। सूचना मिलते ही गोताखोरों की टीम मौके पर पहुंच कर डूबे लोगों को निकालने में जुटी है। जहांगीराबाद थाना पुलिस मौके पर लोगों के बचाव कार्य कर रही है। जानकारी के मुताबिक हादसे में करीब 12 लोगों के मरने की खबर है।

Bhopal: SDERF personnel carry out rescue operation at Khatlapura Ghat
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) personnel on Friday carried out rescue operation at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal where the boat was capsized today morning. 11 bodies have been recovered till now.
The rescued people have been admitted to Hamida Hospital in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
“We are deployed here to take rounds on our boats during Ganesh immersion. As soon as the incident occurred, we rushed to the spot via our boat. We gave life jackets to the people who were drowning and six people were rescued from that spot. A lot of people were riding on that boat. Their boat capsized before they were about to immerse Lord Ganesha idol,” said a police inspector.

In Madhya Pradesh, 11 bodies were recovered at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal after the boat they were in, capsized this morning during Ganesh visarjan.
State police personnel along with other authorities, professional swimmers, State Disaster Response Force and Home Guard are carrying out rescue operation.

According to the locals, only these many people had drowned here, but we are still searching in case we find some other people.î ìThis incident occurred at around 4:30 in the morning. At least 40 police personnel are present at the spot along with other authorities and professional swimmers. State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team is also present at the spot,î he added. MP Boat capsize at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal
--- In Madhya Pradesh, 11 people drowned when two boats carrying them capsized during Ganesh idol immersion in Lower Lake of Bhopal. The incident took place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in Khatlapura on the banks of the Lower Lake. Eleven people died in the incident while six were rescued. A total of 17 people were going on two separate boats for the immersion of the Ganesh idol when the incident took place at around 4.30 am. Initially, the first boat tilted and when the people on the other one saw it, they tried to save it, but to no avail. In the process, the other boat also tilted sideways and both capsized. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force, the National Disaster Response Force, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, local police, and the citizens swung into action and rescued six persons.
11 bodies including that of children, have been retrieved so far while 06 persons saved themselves by swimming. One NDRF team along with other agencies has been deployed for search and rescue operation.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to each of the dead and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
