The Historic Temple of Kheer Bhawani was built by Maharaja Pratap Singh in 1912 & later renovated by Maharaja Hari Singh Surrounded by steam

Ganderbal ( Jammu and Kashmir), Jun 01 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the Mata Kheer Bhawani temple on the special occasion of the annual Mata Kheer Bhawani festival in Ganderbal district on Friday. The festival is marked every year to revive the strong bonds between the different communities in the valley.While addressing the media, Mufti said that she will pray for the peace and harmony in the state so that all the Kashmiri pundits can return back to the valley.

Kheer Bhawani is a temple dedicated to the Goddess Kheer Bhavani (originally just Bhawani) constructed over a sacred spring. The worship of Kheer Bhawani is universal among the Hindus of Kashmir. The temple is situated at a distance of 14 miles east of Srinagar near the village of Tul Mul. The term kheer refers to rice pudding that is offered in the spring to propitiate the Goddess, which became part of the name of the temple. As is the custom with Hindu deities, she has many names: Maharagya Devi, Ragnya Devi, Rajni, Ragnya Bhagwati, and so on.
