Khor Al Udaid is considered like the desert marvel of Qatar and is located in a strategic location 80 km away in the south-east of Doha. The Khor Al Udaid Beach is very famous for its relaxing and tranquil environment where visitors can break away from the daily hassles of everyday life, and can simply exile themselves and go aboard on a soul searching journey.

The Inland Sea - The Khor Al-Adaid area - Doha - Qatar - Visit Qatar - Doha attractions
The Inland Sea is one of Qatar’s prime tourist attractions and most definitely one of the finest treasures here. Only four wheel drive vehicles can reach this point though which is at the southernmost point and it is best to travel in convoy with someone who is familiar with the route.
It makes the most magnificent photo opportunity with the sand dunes so close to the water’s edge. The sea surges west in a narrow channel that separates Qatar from Saudi Arabia and then curves off to the North to create a shallow lake which is tidal. All of the local tour companies operate both day trips and overnight stays with picnics, barbeques, camel rides, sand skiing and dune bashing which is not for the faint hearted.

THIS MIDDLE EAST DESERT BEACH IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S UNSUNG NATURAL WONDERS!
Inland Sea of Khor Al Adaid the desert does not just meet the sea, it surrounds it. Khor Al Adaid is about an hour out of Doha.
The drive from the downtown waterfront area with gleaming new skyscrapers built on the fabulous petro-dollars of this nation of two million people, takes you through wealthy suburbia, which quickly gives way to desert.
Look up and there is blue sky. Look forward and there is blue sea, with empty reaches of Saudi Arabia in the distance. Look around and there is sand as far as the eye can see.
Sand covered the windscreen each time, and each time we let out howls of frightened laughter while clinging to whatever our white knuckles could grab..
Eventually, an extraordinary view comes into sight from atop a dune – Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea.
With not another human in sight and no sign of civilisation – no power poles, roads, signs or buildings – it is a place of stark solitude. It carries a measure of beauty in its desolation, and just a hint of terror. This is not a place to break down.
