Extraordinary Kiama blowhole. View the blowhole from directly above! Kiama... a great tourist destination. Filmed late afternoon, cloudy and therefore not optimal conditions.
ND4 filter used on drone; some video clips had shadow/ hightlight effect applied. No stabilisation in post production.
The Kiama Blowhole is a blowhole in the town of Kiama, New South Wales, Australia. It is the town's major tourist attraction. Under certain sea conditions, the blowhole can spray water up to 25 metres (82 ft) in the air, in quantities that thoroughly drench any bystanders. There is actually a second, less famous blowhole in Kiama, commonly referred to as the Little Blowhole by locals. It is much smaller than the other (called the Big Blowhole), but due to its narrow shape, it is actually more reliable than the Big Blowhole, and in the right conditions can be equally spectacular.
The blowhole attracts 600,000 tourists a year. Kiama Blowhole is just a few metres beyond the coastline. The little blowhole is located at the Little Blowhole Reserve, Tingira Crescent, Kiama, a few minutes' drive south of the main blowhole.

KIAMA BLOWHOLE | A Power Surge of Sea | South Coast NSW Australia
The Kiama Blowhole in South Coast NSW Australia.
A power surge of sea!
The Kiama Headland is composed of volcanic rock called latite. A volcanic extrusion, known as dyke, cuts through the latite. The dyke is composed of a softer rock called basalt.
Over millions of years the softer basalt has eroded faster than the latite creating a tunnel under the headland. Eventually part of the headland collapsed creating the Kiama Blow Hole!
As each wave surges through the tunnel, air is compressed in the rear chamber building tremendous pressure.
As waves subside, pressure in the chamber releases forcing the trapped water up the blow hole with a loud whoop!
