In fact, it was the warmest ANZAC Day I remember. I even cracked a sweat walking up to the Kiama lighthouse.
It was a good Dawn Service, well attended.
And the march later in the morning was pretty big too, for a small coastal town.

Set on a headland above a rocky cove between East Beach and Kendalls Beach in Kiama this split level four-bedroom home is all about location, location, location. We love the sunsets, the moon rising over the water, watching storms roll in and spotting migrating whales. You never get tired of glancing up from dinner and seeing a whale close up in the cove!
The couple moved to Kiama 10 years ago from Sydney's Northern Beaches and immediately felt at home. We felt so at home, so quickly. We love the natural beauty of the area, it's a great community and we've made some awesome friends. It's been a great place for the kids to grow up. We have a beautiful rock pool to swim in and the Minamurra to Gerringong coastal walk right out our back gate, there are great markets, cafes and shops here and beautiful parks. And we go to sleep to the sounds of the ocean. What's not to like?
The 30-year-old house was completely gutted and renovated four years ago and has the feel of a new home. It's pretty much a new house, say the owners. We built on at the front and back, added lots of decks and a sunroom, put in new mixed hardwood floors and added new plumbing, wiring, gyprock, fittings, and roof.
The open plan living, dining and kitchen area features soaring ceilings and walls of bifold glass doors that fold right back to give the space the feel of an open air pavilion. The whole back of the house opens up to the sky and the sea and has a wonderful airy, light-filled ambiance. The sunlight streams in in winter and we can luxuriate in t-shirts and not even be aware it's cold outside. In summer, the eaves have been designed to keep out the direct sun and sea breezes ensure the house stays cool. We've never felt the need for air-conditioning. The whole design of the house revolved around maximising enjoyment of the location.
The owners also entertain frequently and the spacious kitchen with ample storage is designed to handle a crowd. The whole living area was designed for relaxed coastal living! say the owners.
Up four steps from the living area, the upper level is the private zone, with three large bedrooms and one smaller one perfect for guests or a TV room. The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and built-in wardrobe, while one of the other bedrooms has a walk-in robe. A double garage and the front door is also accessible from this level.
Outdoors, there is a small level back garden that's fully landscaped and easy to maintain and a sheltered courtyard with a vegetable garden.
It's very peaceful here, say the owners. All you hear are the sounds of the waves.
