Kibber at a Glance HD - Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh 2014 Memories – Vid 26
On 4th May at 1 pm we reached Kibber and checked in at hotel Tashi Zom - the first hotel we encountered. Being early summer no piped water was expected in washrooms. The place being about half a km from village, a lovely panoramic view of the same is worth savoring. Just opposite hotel, beyond the road, the vast stretch of barren tract consists of Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary. A distant view of a group of Ibexes poking into mud was a rewarding experience. The morning of day after, when my travel mate Sachin Vaidya left for a walk through Sanctuary accompanied by a guide, I had a walk through the Kibber village. Most of the footages are resultant of this trip. The first signage I encountered was Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – a road from Chicham to Kibber .We passed by a beautiful looking Norling guest house which looked deserted. The early morning visuals were mostly villagers on way to agri-plots accompanied by Yaks. Some had cows and calves in tow. Climbing higher, the Kibber Gompa and Chorten seemed to break the monotony of almost identical looking houses. The Norling Homestay was another beautiful looking building offering alternative accommodation. Retracing downhill midway through the slope, a large compound housing Secondary school building was humming with activity. Small group of students seated in sun soaked open compound near a blackboard and chair, waited for their teachers to arrive. The writing on board was indicative of a study of English with their meaning in Hindi. The chemistry class had its share of Formulae covering the entire black board. With teachers arriving, it was an open air school. Students mostly comprised of girls with a sprinkling of boys. ‘Where have the boys gone?’ with this query in my mind, I retraced to my hotel room waiting Sachin to return from his walk though sanctuary. A few frames clicked by Sachin finds place in the video.

KAZA , KEE Gumpha & KIBBER (HD) @chinu
Named so for its tranquillity, Kaza is a sweet, calm getaway on the plains of the Spiti river in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Lapped by snow covered mountains, bubbling rivers and streams and picturesque barren landscape with scattered patches of green, Kaza is a dream destination for backpackers. Kaza is divided into two parts: old and new Kaza, each accommodating government offices and king's palace respectively. Monasteries, Gompas, and other historic wonders add charm to this already magical town. Kaza is the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti Valley, making it an important administrative and commercial center. Most hotels, market, main bus depot, hospitals and government offices are located here.

Ep6 | Day7-Kaza-Ki-Kibber-Tashigang-Chandratal | Ride to Spiti
#kaza #kimonastery #tashigang #chandratal #spitivalley #spitibiketrip #kunzumpass
----------
After breakfast, we left Kaza to visit Ki Monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 m. It is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. After visiting this monastery we then left for Gette and then Tashigang, where we spotted the Himalayan Ibex. The road to Tashigang was completely offroad and is around 16 km from Kibber. After visiting Tashigang we then came back to Kibber, another high village situated at an altitude of around 4270 m. Kibber lies in a narrow valley on the summit of limestone rock. For Losar/Chandratal, either we can get into the road bypassing this village or we can visit this village and further the road gets connected to the main road. We did the same, we entered the village and exited from the other end. We then crossed the Chicham bridge which is said to be Asia's highest bridge at an altitude of 4.037m and connects the Kibber village to the Chicham Village. And we continued our journey on this road, which is newly constructed and was smooth, thus saved some time and energy. And I will advise not to take the NH 505 from Kaza and skip Rangrik, instead go via Key, Kibber as the road condition of NH 505 is worst.
So riding for around 41 km from Kibber we reached Losar, where we had our lunch and proceeded further for Kunzum La.
Kunzum La which is 18 km from Losar and the first pass on our way which is elevated at 4,590 m. A few km descend from Kunzum La we then de-routed to Chandratal alongside the Chenab river. The Jeepable distance from Kunzum Pass to Chandratal Lake is 19 km. And further two km to trek. The road is totally an offroad and we met water passes on our way.
