Video Game Arcade Tours - City of Gold & Mr Bibby's Amusements (Mablethorpe, UK)
Both City of Gold and Mr Bibby's Amusements are joined on the interior, which is rather strange as they both have differing themes lol... City of Gold has some very nice interior (and exterior!), however, both arcades are total redemption fests! I think between them, there is a Mario Kart machine, other than that, it's overrun by tickets and fruit machines. The Mirage across the street does have some great video games, so head there if you're tired of redemption!
Many of the arcades in the UK (Mainly seaside arcades) are called Amusement Arcades. They are typically packed with redemption-based machines with very few video games (As video games simply do not make money). I have placed the word Amusements in the title for these types of places as they are not true Video Game Arcades, but deserve some sort of mention. As gambling is legal in the UK, they tend to include fruit machines (aka slot machines) and various other things money-making games, so video games really take a back seat in places like these. They also really hate filming, I'm not sure why because it's free advertising, unless dodgy things are taking place lol

An amusement arcade (often referred to as video arcade or simply arcade) is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

I wasn't overly impressed with this arcade, which is right next to the Ocean Beach Pleasure Park. The park brings in lots of children, so where ARE the video games? I think I counted 2 or 3? It was just jam packed with redemption machines and fruit machines. Not great at all.

Video Game Arcade Tours - Gray's Amusements (Sheringham, UK)
It's not so bad for the square footage! It's a small arcade, but still, they could have easily focused on 100% redemption, 2p and gamblers.... Instead, they have a few video games: Wacky Races, Dead Heat, Terminator Salvation, Big Buck Hunter etc, not bad for it's size!

Video Game Arcade Tours - Sandown Pier Arcade (Sandown, Isle of Wight, UK)
Sandown Pier Arcade! I was actually sort of impressed with this place. They have a pretty decent video game to fruit machine/redemption ratio. They have two Dance Dance Revolution machines, air hockey, mario kart etc. Check out the old abandoned corridoor which leads on to the pier. It's like an arcade machine mini-graveyard with large crane games and other broken machines lol. Interesting to see!

Pop Inn Leisure has always been a family favourite! We have been visiting here for many years! The small room at the end used to have bowling inside until it was burnt down. Today, it has a few machines including: Dancing Stage Euromix 2. I wish they would put DDR Extreme back though, it was the only one left in the country! and also fix that damn monitor LOL! Really!? Who's idea was that!!?

Video Game Arcade Tours - Ocean Beach Pleasure Park (South Shields, UK)
I wasn't overly impressed with the three arcades in Ocean Beach Pleasure Park because they have a considerable amount of floor space and also the park brings in lots of children, so where ARE the video games? I think I counted 2 or 3 in each arcade, they were all jam packed with redemption machines and fruit machines. Not great at all.

Video Game Arcade Tours - Wellington Pier Amusements (Great Yarmouth, UK)
Now this is what a modern day arcade should look like! Plenty of video games, investment in newer games, indoor bowling and a little redemption for people who like that kinda thing. Check out the Dancing Stage Euromix 2 section! Probably one of the best tributes to Dance Dance Revolution in the UK! Brighton Pier also has a very Dance Dance Revolution setup too! Amazing!! PLEASE keep it maintained, it's a huge rarity these days and you just cannot find this kind of tribute to video games unless you buy a time machine and go back to 1997. Amazing stuff!

Haven Holidays Rory Tiger - Tiger Club (31st May 2008)
Rory the Tiger, Greedy the Gorilla and Anxious the Elephant live on stage singing everyone's favourite, the Tiger Club song, at the Primrose Valley Haven Holidays site on 31st May 2008.
Check out the appearance of Funstar Chris at the end of the video, that guy was mental! Easily our favourite Funstar of the week, and the mysterious disappearance of Greedy the Gorilla at the end. Funstar Chris thinks he's gone solo, I personally think he was just busting for a pee and couldn't wait to get off stage!
Video Game Arcade Tours - Hall's of Derbyshire (Matlock Bath, UK)
Unfortunately, all of the arcades in Matlock Bath are redemption fests! This is an ice-cream shop with an arcade in the back. It's all 2p machines, but it's more of an interesting looking place!
