5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Dublin
5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Dublin
Residing in a wide bay, Dublin lies between Howth in the north and the headland of Dalkey to the south. The River Liffey, which flows into the harbor, slices the city in two. Several bridges span the north-south divide, the most famous of which is O'Connell Bridge. Pre-independence Dublin was once the second city of the British Empire, the graceful Georgian architecture and picturesque parks bearing testament to a troubled legacy. Ireland's capital has given the world such renowned literary figures as Yeats, Beckett, Joyce, Shaw, and Wilde. Dubbed a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010, Dublin's written tradition stretches back to 800 A.D. with The Books of Kells, which is now on permanent exhibition at Trinity College. Although Dublin sprawls rather than soars, the city center is easily explored on-foot and a convenient transport network takes you wherever you wish to go.

Monasterevin Sword and its replica by Vince Evan
In the National Museum of Ireland on Kildare Street. To my mind this is the most remarkable sword of Irish make, with its unique and extraordinary pommel, almost like the joined rings of the Hill of Tara.
Vince Evan's replica is also very fine, and sits opposite the original. Sadly he is not credited in the museum display itself as far as I can see. The two final photgraphs in the video are not mine. They are most likely by Point Seven and/or Grace Evans. Information about the sword is taken from Evan's essay in Spirit Of The Sword: A Celebration of Artistry and Craftsmanship by Steve Shackleford, published by Krause Publications, F+W Media Inc, 2010.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Dublin:
Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music and literature percolating through its cobblestones.
While #Dublin proudly honours its past, it is equally passionate about enjoying each and every new day. Nowhere is life celebrated more than in the city’s nearly 700 pubs.
Of all the gifts, Dublin has given to the world, perhaps the most intoxicating are its stories. Originally built for the sons of the Irish gentry, the ivy-covered stone buildings of Trinity College are home to some of the oldest remaining manuscripts in the world, including the 1000-year-old Book of Kells.
Dubliner Jonathan Swift, once said, “May you live all the days of your life.” There is no better way to define Dublin. Its passion for life is contagious, captivating and sure to stay with you after your #vacation here for the rest of your days.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Kerry Bog Village Museum, Glenbeigh, County Kerry, Ireland, Europe
The Kerry Bog Village explores Ireland’s rural history, heritage and lifestyle. Visitors will experience the culture, customs and living conditions of our great ancestors through the famine years, and late 19th century. The Village is surrounded by the extensive Bog lands of Ballintleave. We show how workers cultivated the peat for fuel in bygone days, and how the turf was a primary source for heating the home and cooking. At the museum entrance, we offer a comprehensive booklet to visitors. The brochure explains in detail, all the cottages and points of interest. Our information comes in: English, Irish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Japanese and many more languages.
