Kilim Geoforest Park In Langkawi
We headed to Kilim Geoforest Park in Langkawi - Southeast Asia's only UNESCO Geopark.
This 550 million year-old park has a bat cave with over 3,000 bats as well as a floating fish farm where you can catch your own food. We even managed to spot some wild eagles there during our mangrove boat tour!

Kilim Geoforest Park (or Kilim Karst Geoforest Park as its full name) is one of the three geoforest parks associated with the Langkawi Geopark. The other two are the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park and The Dayang
Bunting Marble Geoforest Park.
Langkawi Geopark comprises the whole of Langkawi Island, which is one of the districts of Kedah State, Malaysia. Langkawi started as a fishing village until its revelation as a UNESCO Geopark.
Langkawi was endorsed as the 52nd Global Geopark by UNESCO on 1st June 2007, making it the 1st geopark in Malaysia and the South East Asia region. This endorsement was given due to its significant geoheritage features like landscapes, caves sea arches and sea stacks, dropstones, fossil and local community involvement.
Langkawi Geopark is a member of the Asia Pacific Geoparks Network and The Global Geoparks Network (GGN).

Cave of Bats or Gua Kelawar, Kilim Karst Geoforest Park (2), Langkawi
Yes, I am indeed obsessed with the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park. Covering 2,415 hectares, the park is a landscape of limestone hills with a multitude of pinnacles of varying shapes and sizes. It encompasses three river basins, namely Kilim, Air Hangat and Kisap, and the neighbouring islands of Langgun and Tanjung Dendang. We finally managed to cruise along the three rivers in three separate visits. We were amused by the lush green mangrove forests lining the shorelines, which groomed well with the amazing karstic features of Setul formation that formed about 450 million years ago. Passing through the calm winding rivers, we were also exposed to the wonders of the marine ecosystem, flora and fauna and its natural habitats. It was very eye-opening to us that have been living in the concrete forests in the cities.
There is also an extensive cave system within the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park which have contributed to the myths and legends of the island. Among the caves found here include Gua Tok Jangkit, Gua Teluk Dedap, Gua Cerita, Gua Teluk Udang, Gua Siam, Gua Buaya, Gua Tanjung Dendang, Gua Langsir and the most important and popular cave, Gua Kelawar, the Cave of Bats.

About Us!
If you had told me a year ago that we were going to sell all of our stuff to start backpacking the world, I would have called you a liar. Decisions like the one we made start with an inflection point. A point where you realize that life can never be the same anymore. After a challenging, and painful year in 2017, we decided we needed to go out and live the life we wanted to live, instead of watching it on someone else’s YouTube Channel. We had given everything we had, physically and emotionally, for other’s dreams and were ready to work that hard for ourselves. From rock bottom, Chase for Adventure was born.
The Chase Begins
We moved in with our parents, sold everything we own including our cars, and paid off $70,000 worth of debt. We worked 70hrs/week over the last year trying to save up $15,000 to make our dreams come true. Now, we are travel journalists who showcase the beauty in different cultures and inspire others to chase their dreams through our YouTube Channel and website Chase for Adventure. We want to show others that if they want something bad enough, they’ll figure out how to get it; show people who are struggling that they can make the light at the end of their tunnel. Chase for Adventure is more than just a travel vlog and blog; it’s the chronicles of what it’s like to have a dream and do whatever it takes to attain it.
