Trip | Yercaud | Killiyur Falls
Yercaud is a hill station in Salem District, in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. It is situated at an altitude of 1515 metres (4970 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in Yercaud is the Servarayan temple, at 5,326 feet (1,623 m). The hill station is named owing to the abundance of forest near the lake, the name signifying Lake Forest.
Kiliyur Falls is a waterfall in the Shervaroyan hill range in the Eastern Ghats, Tamil nadu, India. The waters overflowing the Yercaud Lake fall 300 ft (91 m) into the Kiliyur Valley.
There are 270 steps needs to be climbed down to see the beauty of the falls. Climbing up is a real challenge to your fitness.

The best time to visit this place is immediately after the monsoons.

Me, my wife and our friends went from Bangalore to Yercaud on our bikes on 29th Sept, 2018. It was a 2 day trip, adding the first part of the video where we have captured our journey and trekking to the Kiliyur waterfalls.
Yercaud is a hill station town in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It lies in the Shevaroy Hills, known for their orange groves, and coffee, fruit and spice plantations. Yercaud Lake has a boathouse, and is surrounded by gardens and woods.
At a distance of 4 km from Yercaud Bus Stand and 3 km from Yercaud Lake, Kiliyur Falls is a nice waterfall in the Servaroyan hill range of Eastern Ghats in Tamil Nadu, India. This is one of the beautiful waterfalls in Salem district and also one of the top Yercaud tourist places.

You have to climb lot of steps to reach the falls. Very difficult with kids. In the falls also, you have to be carefull, as there are sharp rocks and no clear space available to reach the falls easily.

'Amazing' would fall short to explain Killiyur Falls in Yercaud hill town of Salem District in Tamil Nadu. Hitting mighty rocks and gushing through green plantations, Killiyur Falls create a breathtaking scenery that can't skip the eyes of visitors during a holiday at Yeracud.
The waterfalls is nestled in Shervaroyan hill range of eastern Ghats and falls from a height of around 300 feet. During monsoon, the falls become more majestic and vivacious when the sound of gushing waters become more clear and sight more heavenly. The excess waters of Yeracud Lake reaches Shevaroyan Hills and falls deep into the valley cutting rocks and greenery. A short trek through enchanting woods help one reach the pristine site of Killuyur Falls.
Points to be noted:
the waterfalls is best watched during day time,
carry trekking shoes or sports shoes for walking to the falls,
do not forget to carry camera, and
be careful of steep stairs and rocky slopes while walking up to the falls.
