Killarney Horse Riding Stables - RTÉ Television - The Master's Apprentice (Part2)
This week Donie O'Sullivan the owner of Killarney Riding Stables in Co. Kerry is taking on an apprentice.
With just two horses, Donie O'Sullivan established Killarney Riding Stables, in Co Kerry in the 1960s. Today his stables are home to over 130 horses and his business caters to thousands of visitors from all over the world. Some come for a few hours to ride out in the stunning surrounds of the Killarney National Park and some come to spend up to seven days trail riding around Kerry.
A master in equine tourism, Donie has agreed to take on an apprentice to work alongside him and his family. The O'Sullivans will be passing to their apprentice the secrets of their success.
This unique opportunity has fallen to Emily Vial from Donegal. At just 21 she has spent most of her life working with horses, she has just completed a degree in Equine Science and is determined to realise her dream of building a successful business based on her passion.
Over the course of her time at Killarney Riding Stables Donie and his family will challenge her constantly to see if she has what it takes to make it in their line of business. Can Emily look after such a large number of horses, deal with customers of all skill levels and nationalities, manage ride-outs through the national park and take command of a group on a trail ride around the ring of Kerry?

Forest Horse Riding in Wicklow Mountains | The Paddocks Riding Centre | Outdoor Activities Dublin
Hi there! Last weekend, I did horse trekking through the Wicklow forest with my Japanese friend!
If you feel like hiking on a horse’s back right away, you can go to 4:55 ???? You can see the Irish forest landscape.
We went to:
The Paddocks Riding Centre
It’s close to Sandyford, so it’s not too far from town. But I highly recommend you to go there by car as it may take longer by public transport.
* This video is not for affiliate.
I simply wanted to share benefits of going outdoor, through horse trekking ;)
You can borrow a hat and boots, so what you need are comfortable clothes and a waterproof jacket as the weather in the mountain is a lot more unpredictable than in the city!
For trousers, I wore fitness stretch leggings for horse riding and they did well!
I said in my previous video that Irish life feels more relaxed and easy-going than in Japan. I know it’s contradictory, but our life can be hectic in Ireland too! (For more details on why I’m drawn to Irish life, you can check out my previous video:
Horse riding was a tranquil and soothing experience for me.
Let’s re-connect with nature.
It’s going to help us re-discover what our heart is telling us.
