Soldier's Leap Pass of Killiecrankie Highland Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland video of photographs of The Pass Of Killiecrankie gorge on visit to Highland Perthshire. The Battle of Killiecrankie, 27th of July 1689, was the first and most significant of the battles of the first Jacobite rebellion. Although it was an important victory for the Jacobites, it also resulted in the death of the rebel leader, Viscount Dundee, a major factor in the subsequent collapse of the uprising. Donald MacBean, one of William III of England's supporters, on seeing the battle was lost, is said to have cleared the gorge, from one bank to the other, at The Soldier's Leap.
HEMAC Glasgow 2014 - Ben Kerr: Donald McBane's Story
HEMAC Glasgow 2014 was a historical fencing event, focusing on the Scottish martial traditions. It included lessons, debates and presentations about many interesting and related ideas and systems.
Ben Kerr delivered a presentation about the life and story of Donald McBane:
A story so incredible it was believed to be historical fiction. Donald McBane is a figure from history much loved by those who have had the joy of studying his autobiography. Growing up in Inverness and later joining the British regiments McBane traveled across Europe pimping, duelling, blowing himself up and performing other incredible and not always admirable feats. The last we hear of him is him leaving retirement in his fifties to fight one last bout in Edinburgh against an uppity Irish youngster, at the end of this bout McBane had destroyed the youngster and walked off with barely a scratch. Yet for all his heroic and sometimes crazy actions he is remembered only for a single act of cowardice on maps marked as the Soldiers Leap.
This talk will discuss his incredible life and will bring the participants closer to this historical figure. There will be bad language, shouts, bangs, laughs and tears and hopefully an entertaining and informative time for all.

Places to see in ( Carrbridge - UK )
Carrbridge is a village in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It lies off the A9 road on the A938 road, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Findhom Bridge, near Bogroy. It has the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands and the nearby ancient pine forest contains the Landmark Forest Adventure Park.
Carrbridge is about 10 km north of Aviemore and forms a gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. It was an early centre for skiing in Scotland. In the 2001 census the village had a population of 708 people, with the majority employed in tourism.
Until the 1980s bypass was constructed, the A9 road ran straight through the village. Carrbridge is served by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Local debate still rages regarding the name Carrbridge itself, with some preferring to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. The word Carr has nothing to do with motorised transport but is derived from the Gaelic word for boggy area.
Carrbridge's most famous landmark is the old packhorse bridge, from which the village is named. The bridge, built in 1717, is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands. It was severely damaged in the muckle spate of 1829 which left it in the condition seen today. It is now unstable and is recommended only to be viewed from afar. Jumping off the bridge into the River Dulnain below had long been a popular pastime for younger locals and the more adventurous tourists.
Landmark Forest Adventure Park is set in an ancient pine forest at the south end of the village. It has a variety of attractions, including a wild water coaster, steam powered saw mill and the UK's first nature trail, Treetop Trail. There has been a Boys' Brigade campsite in the village for many years. Duthil Old Parish Church and Churchyard, located nearby, includes many graves and memorials of Clan Grant.
( Carrbridge - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Carrbridge . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Carrbridge - UK

Early Autumn Drive From Caputh To Dunkeld Perthshire Scotland
Tour Scotland video of an early Autumn drive West from Caputh on the A984 old military road and down Brae Street and across the High Street on ancestry visit to the centre of Dunkeld, Highland Perthshire. Most of the original town of Dunkeld was destroyed during the Battle of Dunkeld when, in August 1689, the 26th Foot, Cameronian Regiment, successfully fought the Jacobites shortly after their victory at the Battle of Killiecrankie. The rebuilt town is one of the most complete 18th century country towns in Scotland, On the site of the traditional market cross, the fanciful neo-Gothic Atholl Memorial Fountain was built in 1866, as a monument to George Murray, 6th Duke of Atholl. The Fountain is notable for its heraldry and Masonic symbolism, the 6th Duke having been Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.

Reenactment of Battle of Fort Ligonier
The Battle reenactment of Fort Ligonier on October 11, 2012 including recognition of the actor portraying the 11th Earl and chief of Clan Montgomery in his rank of Colonel and commander of the British 77th Foot Highlanders Regiment, receiving an award for 35 years of dedicated service to the reenactment community in the United States. I was able to speak with him at length after the reenactment as one of my posted videos details.
Battle of Prestonpans
The Battle of Prestonpans was the first significant conflict in the Jacobite Rising of 1745. The battle took place at 4 am on 21 September 1745. The Jacobite army loyal to James Francis Edward Stuart and led by his son Charles Edward Stuart defeated the government army loyal to the Hanoverian George II led by Sir John Cope. The inexperienced government troops were outflanked and broke in the face of a highland charge. The victory was a huge morale boost for the Jacobites, and a heavily mythologized version of the story entered art and legend.
It was initially known as the Battle of Gladsmuir, but was actually fought at Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland on that town's borders with Tranent, Cockenzie and Port Seton.
