Old Photographs Cardross Scotland
Tour Scotland wee video of old photographs of Cardross, Scottish Gaelic: Càrdainn Ros. a village on the north side of the Firth of Clyde, situated halfway between Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Robert the Bruce purchased the portions of lands of Pillanflatt from the Earl of Lennox, lying in the parish of Cardross in 1326. In 1329, he died at his manorial house that he built there. A field called the Mains of Cardross is thought to have been the location of his royal manor. The village has two places of worship: Cardross Parish Church, Church of Scotland, and a Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Saint Mahew. The original parish church was bombed during the Second World War and its ruins are located next to the former Church of Scotland manse. The former St. Peter's Seminary, designed by Gillespie, Kidd & Coia, is situated to the north of the village; it is closed to the public. The ruined 15th century Kilmahew Castle that was built by the Napier Clan is situated just north of the village. A. J. Cronin, the celebrated doctor and writer, was born in Cardross in 1896. Cardross railway station has direct links to both Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley stations on the North Clyde Line.

Zrúcaniny hradu Čabraď - Ruins of the Čabraď Castle
Ruins of the Čabraď Castle are in the Krupinská planina plain in south of Slovakia.
This originally sentry castle first mentioned in 1276 was built to guard the road leading to central Slovakian mining towns. In the 16th century it was rebuilt to the counter-Turk fort, which successfully resisted all Turkish raids. The Koháry family acquired the castle in the 17th century. They later moved into the more comfortable manor house in Svätý Anton and had the castle burned in 1812. The Castle is decaying ever since.
The castle hill of Čabraď and its environs is now the National Nature Reserve with the abundant occurrence of reptiles (grass snakes above all).
Access: on foot from the village Čabradský Vrbovok on field road (it takes about an hour and quarter).

Wandering through the ruins of Buchanan Castle near Drymen in Scotland. Buchanan castle fell into ruins after WWII after the roof had been removed to avoid paying tax. This is the castle where Hitlers right hand Rodolf Hess was kept in prison and where he was treated for the injuries he had as a result of his airplane crash south of Glasgow.
A word of warning for people who would like to visit the castle themselves. The grounds are extremely dangerous. If you visit the castle, please be aware and respect the grounds and the people living around it. Stay clear. And if you come closer, danger may be both above your head and under your feet.

Kilmahew / St Peter's Community Open Day 2010
Over the past few years, NVA have been developing a radical new vision for St Peters Seminary and the surrounding Kilmahew woodland. A programme of research work and events is up and running in the area under the title of The Invisible College.
Local dialogue, expertise and input is a cornerstone of The Invisible College. There have been various opportunities for local residents to get involved and input throughout the process. This film documents the first community open day and bbq NVA held on site. It was the start of an important collaboration with the local community which is continuing today.

Hohenfreyberg ist nicht nur eine der malerischsten und größten Burgruinen Bayerns, sondern auch eine der allerletzten Burgen mittelalterlicher Prägung, die überhaupt neu gebaut wurden.
The Hermit's Castle . Achmelvich
In-situ poured concrete folly constructed in 1950 by David Scott, an English architect who left the area shortly after completion. Free form and expressionistic, the glass windows and door have been lost.
Beaton notes the interior consists of a bed platform, hearth and storage shelves within a irregular-shaped interior never wider or taller than 2m. Beaton further notes the form and material of the folly harmonise with both stoney Assynt and the Minch spreading below.
