When I was a kid in my home town of Kilmarnock we used to listen to a lot of Bob Marley. Get up stand up stand up for yer rights, was our anthem. And today in that vein I embrace the reggae style as an expression of my inner rebel. These are picture memories posted by friends of the FB Group Kilmarnock When You Were A Kid with a musical backing written and performed by Anacoustic Mind. Just a wee slide show to show yer pals what it was like when we were kids in Kilmarnock.

Hillsborough Co Down WW1 Cenotaph
I'm at the bottom of Hillsborough's main street beside the Celtic cross WW1 memorial Cenotaph, Carved into it's sides are the names and regiments of the many many local Hillsborough men who fought in the Great War of 1914-18. The sacrifices rhey and their families made were remarkable and should never be forgotten. Unfortuantely with the passage of time and with life's so many worries and distractions many folk simply have done just that.
THE BATTLE OF BANNOCKBURN 1314 - THE LION RAMPANT
'On them! On them! They fail! They fail!' Scots cry at Bannockburn, The stirring tale of a nation's fight for freedom. In a mighty attempt to crush the Scots, King Edward II placed himself at the head of the invasion of Scotland. In their desperate hour of need came Scotland's greatest medieval king, Robert, known simply as 'The Bruce'. The two forces would meet at a small stream within sight of Stirling Castle - the Bannockburn. The thunderous battle fought there would decide the fate of a nation. Featuring atmospheric reconstruction and re-enactment footage, 'The Bruce of Bannockburn' features superb depictions of the savagery of medieval battle. The ebb and flow of a crucial day in British history is illustrated by the very latest 3D graphic mapping techniques combined with dramatised eye-witness' accounts of the battle. With extensive original footage filmed in and around Stirling Castle itself, the programme provides a unique record of the most celebrated victory in Scotland's history. Narrated by Iain Cuthbertson. Featuring expert comment and analysis by Dr David Chandler, the world's most foremost military historian and former head of War Studies at Sandhurst.

Scotland tour
Betty and her sister Jean on their first visit to Scotland. They stayed with Bob and Janet, who took them on day trips to as many places as possible in a week. They got as far north as the Trossachs, over to Edinburgh in the east, down to Stranraer in the south and even squeezed in a trip to Belfast.
When they weren't touring, they were having a 'wee swally' in JD's Bar in Crosshouse, Ayrshire.
The music with this clip is the fantastic American Celtic rockers Prydein with Loud Pipes Save Lives and The Gaelic Conspiracy.
