KiMiidera Temple, also known as Gokokuin Temple; is located in the Wakayama City （和歌山市） and is the second temple in the Saikoku 33 Kannon Temple pilgrimage in the Western Japan.
This temple was first buit in the 8th century and is designated as an important cultural asset by Prefecture of Wakayama.

Kongobuji Temple - Wakayama - 金剛峯寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Located in the heart of Koyasan, Kongobuji was originally constructed in 1593 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to commemorate the death of his mother. Later Kongobuji was merged with a neighboring temple and reorganized into the head temple of Shingon Buddhism, the sect introduced to Japan by Kobo Daishi in 805 and headquartered on Koyasan.
While modest from the outside, Kongobuji is actually a vast temple with several beautiful rooms featuring amazing painted sliding doors like the huge Ohiroma Room for which was used for important rituals and ceremonies. Once you navigate through the temple’s many corridors and rooms you will be welcomed by a beautiful zen garden. The Banryutei Rock Garden, built in 1984 represents a pair of dragons emerging from a sea of clouds.

In the middle of Wakayama Prefecture's mountains, surrounded by eight peaks (in Buddhist iconography it resembles the center of a lotus flower, with the peaks forming the petals).

Established in 770, this is the ancient No. 2 temple along the pilgrimage of the Saigoku-Sanjūsansho (33 temples in the Kinki region). The 500 cherry trees within the temple grounds go into bloom earlier than anywhere else so that the temple has been called “the temple that beckons spring to the Kinki region”. Inside the new Buddha Hall is enshrined Japan’s largest gold-leafed Thousand-Armed Kannon with a height of 11m. At the top of the 231 steps leading to the temple, the view of Wakanoura Bay is stunning.

Historic Japanese Temple at Koya-san in Wakayama
This gem known as Koya-san (Mt. Koya) has over 1,200 years of history and is home to the tombs of some of Japan's most widely recognized feudal lords.

Hello Everyone!
I went to Wakayama! ( ﾉ^ω^)ﾉﾟ My university organised a day trip to Wakayama where we did traditional lacquer ware work, explored a small town called kuroe (黒江), and visited the beautiful Kimiidera-shrine (紀三井寺).
The whole trip was a lot of fun and I will definitely be heading back soon!

Today I'm in the foothills of Wakayama exploring the amazing Kimii-dera Temple. Which is a short and semi confusing bus ride away from Wakayama Castle, but never worry never fear the bus stop your looking for is all in English. Which is a good thing for sure!
Upon reaching the buddist temple you'll find 231 steps staring right back at you, but upon arrival to the top of the stairs you'll find a HUGE statue of Kannon staring back at you.
