和敬清寂 Harmony. Respect. Purity. Peace.
It’s a feast to the eyes, to your ears and mind when a person preparing the hot water. Listening as the water dancing against the hot cast iron. It’s like a river murmuring.

Tea Ceremony Kyoto Maikoya Japan
Tea Ceremony Kyoto The founder of tea ceremony Sen no Rikyu stated that tea ceremony can be explained by this simple phrase: ichi go ichi e : one time – one meeting. The purpose of tea ceremony is not to drink best tasting tea, it is all about enjoying the moment and remembering that this very moment will never come back again. If you want to reserve a tea ceremony session in Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka or Kobe you can do it here
Tea ceremony is quite similar to meditation. When we are participating in the ceremony we have to forget about everything and just focus on drinking tea in harmony. Building on this philosophy, Rikyu introduced the 4 main principles of tea ceremony: WA, KE, SEI and JAKU (harmony, respect, purity and tranquility).

Sado, Kimono and Exploring in Osaka!
I had a wonderful chance to experience Sado [Japanese Traditional Tea Ceremony], wear a beautiful Kimono, and play traditional Japanese games at Uehommachi in Osaka.
It wasn't my first time doing these things, but the experience was incredibly enjoyable. The Kimono's were all so beautiful and all the people I met were so kind and fun!

Episode 5: Tea Ceremony [From Osaka to Tokyo]
The matcha was indeed very bitter. No one in my group enjoyed it, but I found it comparable to drinking coffee black. It had a similar bitterness that one could definitely get used to. I enjoyed the experience and the matcha (though I agree it was very bitter, but in a good way).
Have you had plain matcha before? Have you tried Japanese green tea ice cream and found it to be too bitter as well?

???????? JAPAN: Traditional Tea Ceremony & Umeda Sky Observation Deck | TRAVEL VLOG #0146
We visited the observation deck of Osaka's highest building on our last full day in the city. Well, I visited it. It was too high for Mark, and I have to say it was a little daunting once I got up there. Then we participated in an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony, and we even dressed in real kimonos! I highly recommend the Tea Ceremony if you're in Osaka or Kyoto!

Yukata 浴衣 (Summer KIMONO) & JAPANESE Tea Ceremony [NAGOYA VLOG]
***Japan With Me - Episode 22 (Stream at 1080p for BETTER-QUALITY video)*** Japan Summer is so hot and sweaty! However, it was a great chance for me to wear this traditional Japanese clothes. It is called Yukata, a summer version of Kimono. There is quite a prepping to do to wear it properly. There were undergarment, top and bottom. It was quite restricted to move around. I don't know how people did it in the ancient time. A big thank-you to my cousin's host family for lending me the costume! After a good photo session, I got change to my day clothes and went to the Tea Ceremony. It was semi-formal. I got a chance to taste the authentic Japanese green tea. Since I was a guest who doesn't go to this university, I got a lot of passes. Hahaha ... It was quite awkward to be there, honestly cuz there were a lot of rules and other stuff to follow. Anyway, today is quite boring. We went to a student guild at the university to buy some train tickets to Kyoto and Osaka. I did enjoy the Tea Ceremony though. It was really interesting and refreshing to learn new culture. For dinner, we just went to buy some tofu and vegetables and had it with rice cooked at home. ***Pro Tip! If you have Citibank where you live, use it! Sign up for a normal account and use the card to take money out at 7/11 atms in Japan. No extra charges as if you take your money out in your country. And they give one of the best currencies as well. Caution: I did it in summer 2018, they might change the rules in the future*** Thank you very much once again for watching. Tea Ceremony Class Kyoto
Would you like to experience a genuine tea ceremony but not too formal nor uncomfortable?
Then this tour is highly recommended!!
A host of the teahouse makes your tea right in front of you and it is possible to take pictures and videos while watching it! A host is a licensed tea master, and the teahouse is only 3 minutes away from Kyoto City Hall station, which is convenient to add to your itinerary.
Sharing time, space and conversation over a cup of tea create an amazing bond between the guest and the host. That is what Tea Ceremony is!!
