We are excited to announce the launch of the world's richest horserace, the Saudi Cup which will take place at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, February 29th 2020, with record prize money of $20 million.
An exciting new addition to the international horse racing calendar, the Saudi Cup is perfectly positioned between the Pegasus World Cup (held in Florida, USA, in January) and the Dubai World Cup (held in Meydan, UAE in March) to attract the best horses in the world to compete for the world's richest prize.

The Saudi Cup is to become the richest horse race in the sport’s history with $20 million prize money up for grabs at the inaugural contest at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh on 29 February 2020.
Attracting some of the best horses, trainers and jockeys from around the globe, it promises to be a world-class sporting event and an exciting addition to the global horseracing calendar.

We spoke to Adrian Beaumont from the International Racing Bureau (IRB) at the 2019 Breeders' Cup meeting. The team at IRB facilitate Owners and Trainers attending major races around the world and will be looking after the international visitors attending the Saudi Cup in February 2020.

The Saudi Cup is to become the richest horse race in the sport’s history after the prize money for the inaugural contest in Riyadh in February 2020 was confirmed to be $20 million.
Announcing the first staging of the event on Wednesday, HRH Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al Faisal, the chairman of the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia, said: “The introduction of the Saudi Cup as an international race, is without doubt the most significant event in the history of horse racing in Saudi Arabia, and demonstrates our resolve to develop this great sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and also our ambition to become a leading player on horse racing’s world stage.”
The race, to be held on February 29 at the King Abdulaziz Racetrack, will have a maximum field of 14 runners and be run over nine furlongs (1,800m) on dirt.
The prize for the winning horse will be $10m with horses down to 10th place sharing another $10m between them.
Saudi Arabia’s big day of racing will take place four weeks after the Pegasus World Cup, but a month before the Dubai World Cup.
