Orthodox Christians build Church for 140th anniversary of Victory against Ottomans
Serbian Orthodox Church has built a memorial Church in Vuchiji Do (Wolf's Valley), where Serbs from Montenegro and Herzegovina in 1876 together defeated Ottoman Empire. Turks lost over 4000 solders and officers, Serbs lost only 70.
Orthodox bishops from Montenegro and Herzegovina have consecrated the Church that was built in honor of Orthodox Christian warriors who chased away Ottoman Godless Invaders in a brilliant battle led by Montenegro's Prince Nikola Petrovich Njegosh.

I expect a peaceful atmosphere. It seems to me for the first time that we have a democratic atmosphere, different to before, when it was crazy. I think these elections will be fair, and we will see who will be the winner. The interesting part here, is that today, one day before the elections, people talk more about the football match between Montenegro and Italy, than about the elections, which is very good.

11. SOUNDBITE: (Serbian) Zarija Pejovic, member of Montenegrin parliament, Party for Change:
Our message in this election campaign was to change the authority using legal ways. We should do what has been done in the US, because when people take things to the street, it becomes a huge problem, and then the situation is difficult. Tomorrow's elections will be very tight, unfortunately opposition lost an opportunity to be united, we should have come out together, but we missed that chance.

STORYLINE:
Montenegrins are to vote in parliamentary elections on Sunday to decide whether their longtime prime minister maintains his grip on power despite economic decline caused by the global financial crisis.
But as the cash-strapped Montenegro moves towards the early vote, its citizens don't seem particularly interested in its outcome.
The interesting part here, is that today, one day before the elections, people talk more about the football match between Montenegro and Italy, than about the elections, which is very good, said Dragan Aloric, a political analyst from Podgorica.
He said the atmosphere surrounded elections previously was crazy.
The latest opinion polls indicate that the European Montenegro coalition of Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, who has been in power for nearly 20 years, is likely to win an outright majority and another consecutive term in office, leaving 15 fragmented opposition groups far behind.
Djukanovic, 47, called the vote 18 months early, saying he wanted a clear, full mandate for painful economic reforms required to bring the country closer to the European Union and NATO membership.
But the opposition says that the man who has ruled the tiny nation of some 680-thousand people almost unchallenged since 1990, scheduled the vote early because he fears the global financial crisis that is starting to grip this Balkan country could dent his popularity over the long term.
Zarija Pejovic, member of Montenegro parliament, from the Party for Change said his party was trying to change the authority using legal ways.
He added that Sunday's election outcome would be very tight, regretting that the opposition couldn't unite.
Because of a sharp drop in foreign investments, Montenegro's economic growth of over 10 percent in 2007 - one of the highest in Europe - is expected to drop to two percent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund estimates.
Montenegro's main source of revenue, tourism on its spectacular Adriatic Sea coastline, faces another bad season amid global financial woes and cancelled foreign investments, such as a multibillion dollar marina project.
Montenegro's main exporter, aluminium maker KAP owned by embattled Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska, faces possible closure. Thousands of its workers have been protesting to demand a government bailout.
Sunday's polls are the second parliamentary elections since 2006.

STORYLINE
A politician who has ruled Montenegro as president, prime minister and behind-the-scenes power broker, could end up leading his country again, if the polls about this weekend's election are correct.
If Milo Djukanovic and his coalition prevail, he could serve as this tiny Balkan nation's prime minister again and continue its push for European Union (EU) membership, despite an economic downturn.
This week's latest poll said Djukanovic's European Montenegro coalition was expected to win nearly half of the 81 seats in parliament in Sunday's vote, making it one of the few governments in Europe to survive a vote during the region's economic crisis.
The main opposition, Democratic Front, stands to gain some 20 per cent of the vote, according to the survey by the Podgorica-based Centre for Democracy and
Human Rights.
Djukanovic and his coalition have ruled Montenegro since the late 1980s, first in alliance with Serbia's strongman Slobodan Milosevic, then as his toughest opponent.
Montenegro is a small, mountainous country of 625-thousand people in southeastern Europe with one coast on the Adriatic Sea.
The 50-year-old Djukanovic served as its prime minister - the top job - and as president, whilst steering Montenegro to independence from Serbia in 2006 and
towards opening European Union accession talks this year.
Although he formally resigned and handed over the premiership to a crony in 2010, Djukanovic - the youngest prime minister in Europe at the age of 29 in 1991 - has continued to rule the country from behind the scenes and to remain at the helm of his Democratic Party of Socialists.
He is widely expected to become prime minister again, if his coalition wins.
During campaigning, Djukanovic has played a nationalist card, urging Montenegro's more than half a million voters to let him cement the country's statehood and take it into the EU and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation).

Around 150 protesters marched in Podgorica's second ever gay pride parade, Montenegro Pride 2014, on Sunday, to express their support of the country's LGBT community.
Protesters marched from Hotel Crna Gora to the Old Government building and back to the National Assembly building carrying banners reading Traditionally proud and Imagine, I hope one day you'll join us. No violent incidents occurred during the parade. One protester said that she hopes events of this kind will help rise society's acceptance towards the LGBT community. Anti-gay protesters were banned from this year's march.
Organised by the group 'Queer Montenegro', the parade was postponed from its original date in June following consultations with the police. Despite homosexuality being legal in Montenegro, according to Council of Europe figures, 71 percent of adults consider the sexual orientation an illness.
