The Kingdom | Mountain Biking in Vermont
Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is home to what’s known as one of the best mountain biking trail systems in the country- the Kingdom Trails. What started as a small network of cross-country ski trails has evolved into a vast network of cross-country mountain bike trails, that adjoin the downhill riding at nearby Burke Mountain, with bike parks and pump tracks in between. Though there have been many involved with the growth, siblings Lilias and Knight Ide have been a driving force behind bringing the spirit and technical downhill elements to the Kingdom Trails and Burke Mountain, and are now passing that love of sport down to the next generation as coaches to an elite junior team, IdeRide. What started out as a passion for riding for both Lil and Knight quickly turned into a lifestyle, career, and building a community.

Ride Spot - Kingdom Trails, Vermont
Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Seamus Powell explores the Kingdom Trails in East Burke, Vermont. Rated one of the top mountain biking trail networks in the country, Powell shares with us why this ride spot should be on everyone’s bucket list.
The Kingdom Trails is a charitable non-profit conservation organization that is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who works in partnership with over 60 private landowners, local businesses, government agencies and other non-profit organizations. Their goal is to create and manage outdoor recreation opportunities that preserve and protect trails in the community. It's an inspiring place with a tight knit community that embraces the sport and the riders who come to visit which creates a great atmosphere in the town, says Seamus.
During his visit, Seamus linked up with Colin Daulong of Village Sport Shop, who guides him on some of the local favorites featuring Heaven’s Bench and Sidewinder. Check out Seamus’s experience riding the Kingdom Trails in this video.
THE MOOSE IS LOOSE | Moose Alley Kingdom Trails :: East Burke, VT
On my seemingly never ending quest to document every trail in New England, the giving tree that is Kingdom Trails has shared with us a handful of spectacular rides. Today we’re returning to East Burke Vermont to sample yet another one of its trails: Moose Alley.
Moose Alley is off the beaten path which means you’ll need to work to get there. The ride up, in addition to being a grind, offers incredible views of Burke Mountain and ends with a leisurely stroll through Magill Fields.
One of the first things you’ll notice about Moose Alley is that unlike it’s southern counterparts, it has rocks, on the trail, that you have to ride over! Not a ton, but they do exist! This is a welcome change of pace after a few days of riding bemis ridge.
It’s also super fast and flowy. Despite the leaves on the ground, we made quick work of shredding up and down the alley.
Moose Alley, like any good entertainer, saves the best for last.
Moose Alley combines all of the ingredients that make a great trail. Chunk, flow, downhill, uphill, length, speed, cadence, challenges, and the unending beauty of nature.
When you visit Kingdom Trails, set aside some time to make the pilgrimage up to Moose Alley. You won’t be disappointed. When you’re done, just cross the street and you’ll be at the trail head for White School, which runs all the way back to East Darling Hill Road.
If you are new to the channel, welcome! My name is Jordan Byron, and I’m on a mission to document every trail in and around New England. Click subscribe and come along for the ride.
Thank you so much for watching! Now it’s your turn, get out there and ride!

It's the NES final ride and we are FINALLY riding the VT Kingdom Trails!!
I've been hearing about this place for months now, and it was only fitting that this be the location for our final ride of the trip. The trails were packed today, but the weather was PERFECT.
The only question I had heading in was: Can this possibly live up to the hype?
I guess we'll see!
Mountain Biking Moose Haven | Kingdom Trails | East Haven, VT
Moose Haven is a newly opened/refreshed flow system in the Northern corner of the Kingdom Trail system of VT. The system is also known as East Haven, which is the town name. With around 15 miles of current trails, this place is an absolute blast! You have to earn your turns with a steady climb from the parking lot, but once that the top it is a flow party all the way back down. 'Black bear' is the longest trail at around two miles, while other trails weave from top to bottom, each with their own unique feel. 'Stormin Norman' was my personal favorite, but due to the leaves we weren't able to ride all of the trails. Pop into the Kingdom Trails info center to grab a map and get after it! #Moosehaven #EastHaven #KingdomTrails

THE BIGGEST WALLRIDE I'VE EVER RIDDEN ????// Burke Mountain Bike Park - Northeast Kingdom VT
Burke Mountain has a HUGE MTB wallride, easily the biggest I've ever seen at a bike park! T Riding Burke MTN in the Northeast Kingdom of VT with my girl friend Hailey. Burke is a smaller lift access bike park, that some very well built jumps trails, Jester and Knight Slayer being the crowd favorites. The chair lift only takes you half way up the mountain, there are also 2 trails going from the top which you have to shuttle to get to, we did not ride those in this video.

Top 5 Must Ride Mountain Biking Trails in Kingdom Trails
Today we’re back up in East Burke, Vermont counting down my “Kingdom Trails Top 5 Hit List”. With so many awesome trails to ride, it’s hard to know where to start. I like to use these 5 trails as anchors or waypoints when I am planning a route in KT. And now, in no particular order, here are my greatest hits from Kingdom Trails:
Coming in at number 5 is Burnham Down. This trail makes my top five list because of its incredibly unique design. Bridges that feel like they go on forever until they sporadically dump you into rooty mud pits. The trail has a rhythm and cadence unlike any I’ve ridden before. To see more of Burnham down check out this video’s description.
Taking the number 4 spot is Kitchell. Like Burnham Down, Kitchell is a trail with discrete, unique pieces. You start off with some fast flowy XC then hit the crowing jewel of Kitchell: The berm section. This set of massive, machine built berms make even the greenest of riders feel like seasoned shredders. This is a fantastic way to end your ride and get back to the tiki bar for a few beers before dinner.
Number three is another trail we’ve seen before: Sidewinder. While Sidewinder itself isn’t anything exceptional, its unique and intense g-out sections make it a must ride when you visit Kingdom. Buckle up and be prepared to grin like a fool because this trail is probably unlike anything you’ve ever ridden before.
For our number two spot, I’m going to cheat a little and actually call out three different trails which are pretty similar in style and close in proximity: Troll Stroll, Tap & Die, and Tody’s Tour. AKA the “Three Ts”. These trails are pure, fast flowy downhill deliciousness. Unlike Kitchell, these trails can get tight so watch your handlebars as you fly down the hill. You don’t want to learn the hard way how “Tap & Die” got its name. I think that’s why Tap & Die is my favorite of these three trails. It’s a little grittier than Tody’s and Troll Stroll which I enjoy.
And now the moment we’ve all been waiting for: My number one trail you need to check out when visiting Kingdom Trails is Skydive. That’s right, Skydive. I rode this trail on my first trip up to KT and it’s been at the top of my must ride list ever since. It checks all the boxes: Fast, flowy, jumpy, while still being 100% accessible to all riders.
So there you have it. My 5 greatest hits of Kingdom Trails. What trails are on your must see” list for KT? Maybe you’re a thrill seeker and like pushing your limits on Jaw with its progressively smaller bridge segments? Or perhaps you’re really dedicated and ride all the way up to Moose Alley. Let me know in the comments below.
Thanks so much for watching! Now it’s your turn, get out there and ride!
