The masks of the Maya ruins of Kohunlich, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
The Mayan ruins of Kohunlich on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Our guide informs us that the famous masks on the side of the great pyramid are made of stucco, not stone, leading one to wonder how much reconstruction has been done. They survived the years by being hidden beneath a layer of rock when the pyramid's size was increased by later rulers.

The Sacred Tree MAYAN MYTHOLOGY - As Above, So Below YUCATAN CAVES ancient spiritual mysteries
#AdeptExpeditions SUBSCRIBE
DID THE ANCIENT MAYA HAVE THE SO-CALLED HERMETIC CONCEPT 'AS ABOVE, SO BELOW' IN THEIR MYTHOLOGY❓
As part of my Adept Expeditions esoteric travel V-LOG series we travel to the Yucatan to explore several caves once inhabited by the ancient Maya, but not before discussing their most sacred tree - the ceiba.
According to Maya mythology, it was the symbol of the universe with its roots growing outside the ground surface, reaching into the underworld - Xibalba. The trunk represented the middle world, where us humans live and struggle, and its branches symbolize the upper world and the 13 levels in which the Maya haven was divided.
