Kinner Kailash Yatra Trek - Complete Journey
The Kinnaur Kailash (locally known as Kinner Kailash) is a mountain in the Kinnaur district of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh. The elevation of the Shiv Lingam is 4640 meters from sea level and is considered as sacred by both Hindu and Buddhist Kinnauris. This mountain is sometimes confused with the Mount Kailash in Tibet. It is one of the toughest pilgrimages in the Himalayas.
Shivlingam is a 79 feet high and 30/40 feet wide vertical rock in the Kinner Kailash mountain range.
Hindu Mythology states that Lord Shiva conducted a meeting of Goddesses and Gods at Kinner Kailash peak every winter. This accounts for the Yatra that takes place every year during this time by devotees of Lord Shiva and local deities.

KINNAUR KAILASH (CHARANG-LA)
ANUP, MALOY, PIJUSH & SAMIR had crossed the CHARANG-PASS. Kinnaur was forbidden to trekkers till a few years ago. Consequently these trails have been seldom used or explored since they were discovered over two centuries ago. The Kinnaur Kailash Range borders the Disctrict of Kinnaur in the south and is dominated by the Kinnaur Kailash (6349 Mts) and Jonkarden (6473 Mts) peaks. The only pass on this trek is the Charang La at an awesome altitude of 5300 Mts above sea level .The trek is challenging and also rewarding for experienced trekkers.
Kinner Kailash Yatra in district kinnaur Himachal Pradesh.
The Kinnaur Kailasha (locally known as Kinner Kailash) is a mountain in the kinnaur district of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh. The Kinnaur Kailash has a height of 6050 meters and is considered as sacred by both Hindus and Buddhist Kinnauris . This mountain is sometimes confused with the Mount Kailash in Tibet but both are completely different mountain ranges . And Mount Kailash is still the unclimbed peak. Coming back to Kinnaur Kailash it is a famous pilgrimage, one has to cover a distance of 18-20kms on foot to reach the Top and takes around 2-3 days. P The journey can be started from two villages namely Tagling and Powari. Porters can be hired from tangling and Reckong Peo. I started off from Powari. Powari is a Village in Kalpa Tehsil in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh State, India. It is located 2 KM towards South from District head quarters Reckong Peo and 1 KM from Kalpa. As the road road facility is available , one can reach there in a vehicle. From there the official journey starts. It is advisable to take sufficient amount of water bottles as there is less water availability on the path, so one has to carry adequate water and use it deliberately. The first stop is Ganesh park , it take around 6-8 hours to reach there. Tents, food, water, and medical facilities are available there. One can take a tent on rent to spend a night in Ganesh park to get some rest. The journey continues the following day. Again, make sure to fill up your water bottles as water is not available in between. The next stop is called Gufa(Cave) , as the name illustrates it's a cave in which one has to take a shelter in night so that he can continue his journey the next day. It takes 4-5 hours to reach Gufa from Ganesh park. One can also take sleeping bags or portable tents to spend a night there, as it gets really cold in the night. Now the next destination after Gufa is the paravati kund following Our Journey's end I.e Shivalingam . We started off around 3:30am next morning from Gufa . It took around 2-3 hours to reach paravati kund. Shivalingam backside is visible from there as we get more closer to it. In paravati kund some of devotees also take bath as the kund's water is considered holy. From there it takes around 3-4 hours more to reach the top. Shivalingam is a 79 feet high and 30/40 feet wide. If you are lucky enough to see it during the sunny day, it looks even more exquisite. It changes colour too. People with less or no trekking experience should not take this trek lightly. They should consult the experienced people before doing it or pursue it with someone who has already been there.best time to visit kinner Kailash would be July and August

The #KinnerKailash Shivlingam is a 79 foot vertical rock in the Kinner Kailash mountain range.
Kinner Kailash Yatra
On a clear day, one can see the Shivlingam at Kinner Kailash which changes color during the course of the day.
This rock face is in between the 20,000 ft KinnerKailash ranges of Mt. Kailash (19,850 ft) & Mt. Jorkanden (21,237 ft).
There is a logical route which is taken for Kinner Kailash Yatra by pilgrims and locals of the region to reach this holy rock. This trek can be done in a span of 2 to 3 days for Kinner Kailash Yatra.

This is a short account of my Kinner Kailash Yatra this July with a few of my friends from Rekong Peo. It was a very tough but ultimately very satisfying journey. Especially the unexpected appearance of the Shivling at an altitude of 4800m when most websites on the internet listed it as 6050m.
