Just Another Day At Kinsale
Song: The Ocean - Mike Perry
Exploring Southern Ireland HD
Ireland is a delight for the photographer and, despite the often overcast weather, we were not disappointed. From the numerous medieval castles that dot the landscape, to the many restored manor houses and lodgings, to the ancient ruins and sweeping landscape vistas, we kept the camera rolling the entire time. But perhaps the greatest treat of all was our interaction with the Irish people. There is not a friendlier group on earth and their cordial hospitality made this a very special trip.

Travel Ireland
Travel Ireland to take a journey into the magical. The rugged beauty of the land is matched only by the hospitality of the people. While taking a tour of Ireland you should always include time to travel West Cork.
Many people travel Ireland to have a unique experience. Whether you go to see the jagged coastline pounded under the relentless power of the Atlantic Ocean, walk the paths, climb the rocky hills, fish from a quiet pier, sit on a sandy beach, take photographs of the Irish countryside or cycle the winding roads; a visit to the scenic area of West Cork is a must.
For those interested in Ireland travel deals and tips, you will have no trouble finding something to suit you. One travel deal/tip you may not know about concerns the pub. If you are traveling with kids and don't want to buy soda, you can ask for tap water with flavored fruit syrups. This will save about $3 per small bottle of Coke or Pepsi, and the kids will enjoy it too!
There are many Ireland travel packages available on-line. The types of trips available are really only limited by what you want. Many of the packages include all the things you need to enjoy your trip including air travel, car hire and lodging. These packages can be booked to cover a few days or even weeks.

Begin your tour of West Cork at Mizen Head, Ireland's most southwesterly point. The dramatic peninsula features Barley Cove beach and is highlighted by the Mizen Head Signal Station Visitor Centre. Be sure to look for seals lazily resting on the rocks below.
The best pub in the entire world is located in the small village of Crookhaven. As you walk into O'Sullivan's Bar, the owner, Dermot O'Sullivan, will greet you with a friendly, Hello boys and girls. What happens if you try to order a Guinness? You don't want to know. Go with the Murphy's; it's local and creamier!
Possibly the most beautiful place in all of West Cork is Three Castle Head. The collection of three towers, built in 1207 by the O'Mahoneys, is a short hike from Dunlough Pier. The castles sit on cliffs, which offer views of the Atlantic Ocean, Mizen Head, Sheep's Head and the mountains of County Kerry. At the base of the castles is a lake. Irish legend holds that a lady haunts the lake while protecting the king's valuables that were thrown in to guard them from attackers.
Between the villages of Goleen and Durrus, you will find the Coast Road. On this road is the well-preserved O'Mahoney Castle known as Dunmanus Castle. The castle was built in 1430 at the current location of Dunmanus Harbor. Views of the beautiful Irish countryside and Dunmanus Bay will have you reaching for your camera.
Further along, near the village of Skibbereen is the area of Lough Hyne. Lough Hyne is a salt-water lake, fed by the tides, and is home to a varied collection of marine life. Above the lake are the walking paths of Knockamagh Wood Nature Reserve.
Up the coast, near the County Kerry border, is the fishing village of Castletownbere. The village is situated on the southern edge of the Beara Peninsula and is near the beginning of the southern portion of the Ring of Beara. Just out of town are the ruins of Dunboy Castle, which was destroyed by the English in 1602 after a 14-day siege.
Leaving the West Cork area, head up to Bantry Bay, through Glengarriff and Kenmare up to the pride of County Kerry, Killarney. The town of Killarney is filled with a nice mix of nature and history. A visit to the Muckross area; including the house, abbey and gardens is very enjoyable. You can easily spend a full day taking in this incredible area. So, what is the best part of it all? You only have to park once as all these sites are within walking distance of each other.
If you are heading back to Dublin, a stop in Cashel is very enjoyable. The Rock of Cashel is world-famous and awe inspiring. A little known abbey in Cashel is Hore Abbey that sits at the bottom of the hill in the shadows of the Rock of Cashel. Hore Abbey will be less crowded and will allow peaceful exploring without crowds.

Bottlenose Dolphins, The Long Strand, West Cork, Ireland
Bottlenose dolphins feeding and interacting with the whale watch boat Voyager off The Long Strand, West Cork, Ireland. There were six animals in total, all adults which were seen the following day. We recognise some of these animals from previous encounters in different years because of the distinctive marking on the dorsal fins and backs of these animals as they form part of the Whale Watch West Cork Photo ID catalogue for Bottlenose Dolphins off West Cork. These charismatic dolphins provide enormous enjoyment for those many visitors who encounter them.

Seafari Boat Tour In Kenmare Ireland Seals Sea & More
Goliath Mann from YT took me over to the Seafari tour which is a very popular boat tour of the ocean starting at Kenmare Ireland and heading off to see some seals, wild goats, amazing scenery and islands.
The tour took us along the ocean water between the fingers of land of Kerry and the Beara Peninsulas of Ireland.
We passed many small islands along the way. Some had wildlife on them.
I got to see my first wild goats on one large island along the way. I was quite excited because I have never seen wild goats before, outside of the TV.
The biggest part of the attraction was a 20 minute pause by the seals which live there all year on the tiny islands jutting out of the water.
We got tons of photos and video as well as a detailed account of how the seals live out here.
As the boat sailed along we had a constant flow of information coming through the loud speakers thanks to our well informed tour guide.
Thanks again Goliath Mann and Seafari for another awesome day in scenic Ireland.

Ocean's Fury Unleashed
One of the most recognizable lighthouse photographs in the world. Perceived optical illusion at end. When first seeing the famous and historical photograph, most people assume that the lighthouse keeper must have been killed. In fact, the keepers had been living in fear of death during the 1989 storm and at one point had taken refuge in the lantern room of the tower. Waves the night before had smashed through the lower windows of the tower, causing the structure to flood, washing away everything in its path including the television, table, chairs, coffee maker and even the refrigerator. The keepers in fact were waiting to be rescued by helicopter.
Assuming the rescue chopper had arrived, one of the keepers opened the lower door of the structure and looked up at the helicopter but realized that it was not the rescue chopper. He also realized that a giant wave was about to engulf the tower. He immediately turned about and pulled the door closed behind him. Had he not done so at that second, he surely would have been killed.

Feadship Royale Concept Superyacht
Earlier this month, Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards released a teaser video promising a “sovereign surprise” at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. On Wednesday the company took the wraps off in Monaco as it unveiled a scale model of its 2013 Feadship Future Concept. Dubbed the Feadship Royale, the concept is designed to mark this year’s ascension to throne of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Profile rendering of the Feadship Royale The glass hide away of the Feadship Royale Tender dock of the Feadship Royale Tender dock of the Feadship Royale closed
The brief from Feadship was to give its draftsmen free reign and let them design a concept royal superyacht for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxim to use for personal and official purposes. Feadship has already built a number of royal yachts including ones for the Shah of Persia and the Saudi royal family, and in 1937 Feadship designed the Piet Hein, which was a wedding present from the Dutch people to King Willem-Alexander’s grandmother, Princess Juliana, and Prince Bernhard.
The final result is, in terms of design, a study in contrasts – if not contradictions. According to the brief, this has to be a home-away-from-home, a showcase for Dutch industry, and a place for meeting other heads of state. It also has to reflect the nature of the royal family and the Dutch nation. It has to be open, yet private, designed for the modesty and practicality of a bicycle monarchy, yet palatial enough for diplomatic receptions and trade missions.
The end result is no skylark at a length of 86 m (282 ft), 14 m (45 ft) abeam, and a draft of 2.5 m (15 ft). With a transatlantic range, it has room for the King and Queen and their three children, eight guests, and 22 crew.
The most striking feature is the all-glass superstructure that draws on Feadship's experience in building with the material. “While recent builds such as Venus have already established our leading position in this highly specialized area, Feadship Royale deploys glass to an unprecedented degree,” says Tanno Weeda, one of the design team. “Having a full-height glass superstructure is a challenging concept but we are convinced that it is now technically possible. As more and more glass is used on land-based projects, our sophisticated clients have the right to expect the same on their superyacht. Ovens of the size required to bend giant glass panels are now available, and Feadship has the design and construction expertise to ensure total safety at sea.”
“The expansive glass in the superstructure and interior is inspired by the transparent nature of the Dutch, who pride themselves on their no-nonsense honesty and openness,” Feadship says. The glass floors provide light to the grand three-story atrium that serves as the reception space and exhibition area, and there is a sweeping walkway and facade that connect decks. Bulwarks are left out to allow in natural light.
The ship’s plan also reflects two natures. Many areas, such as the beach club and the main deck, are very open and allow direct contact between the royal family and the people, as well as allowing small private tenders to dock alongside. There are also private apartments for the royal family, including four suites, a lounge and a country kitchen area, as well as an area on deck giving them seclusion. In addition, there is a drive-through tender dock for coming and going with greater discretion and security.
The most spectacular part of the royal family area is the three-story glassed-in retreat in the bow with one-way glass that can only be entered through the royal apartments. It’s very daring from an architectural point of view, though it’s hard to imagine an engineer seeing it and not breaking into a cold sweat.
In terms of performance, the Feadship Royale is designed to do 17 knots thanks to two Riim drive thrusters rated at 1,500 kW each. These, along with the ship’s systems are powered by two medium-speed 2,219 kW diesel generators and a 400 kW generator. Feadships says that this system exceeds the IMO Tier III and EPA Tier 4i lower emission regulations that come into effect in 2020.
“Feadship Royale is not an official gift for their majesties, although we do hope they have fun exploring our thinking on their behalf,” says Farouk Nefzi, marketing and brand director at Feadship. “Feadship has built a number of stately superyachts for sovereigns from around the world. We also designed Piet Hein, a gift from the Dutch people to King Willem Alexander’s grandmother Princess Juliana on the occasion of her marriage in 1937. It is fair to say that we are rather proud of this royal heritage.”
The Feadship Royale is just a concept and it unlikely ever to be built, but Feadship has been known to include concept elements in its production yachts.
