Ministry of Interior has released operative video, which confirms that Badri Bitsadze, the organizer of the protest rallies held in Tbilisi in May 2011, had the support of the former senior authorities of Georgia, who currently reside in Russia. In the video testimony released by MIA, Nika Goguadze, one of the leaders of the social-political union National Religious Movement, says in details when the movement was formed and what its goals were.
The Ministry of Interior has published audio records of the telephone conversations and a special statement in this regard today.
`On 26 May, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained a group of 24 armed persons close to v. Kintsvisi. According to the testimonies of the detainees, their leader was Teimuraz Khachishvili, former Minster of Internal Affairs of Georgia and one of the leaders of paramilitary group - Mkhedrioni, who at the moment resides in the Russian Federation. The objective of this group was to conduct the armed provocations in Georgia. Today, the first part of evidence is presented, particularly, the intercepts of phone calls and confession statements of the detained persons,` the statement says.
The allies of Khachishvili, who were fulfilling his orders received via telephone conversations and via ciphered language, have unveiled detailed plan of the organizers of the rally and Temur Khachishvili, who planned to arrive in Georgia and join the protestors in case they managed to cause chaos in the country.
`Under the order of Khachishvili and Bitsadze, we had an instruction to join the rallies launched by Burjanadze and cause provocations there, intrude into the building and burn them. Afterwards, Khachishvili would join us with his gang of gunmen. According to their agreement, the `sworn-in-brothers` would arrive in Igoeti village to join the gang and move together towards Tbilisi for armed revolt,` Ramaz Ghvaladze has said.
Other detainees have also confirmed that Khachishvili planned to join the activities of his supporters after the chaos would begin.
The instructions of the organizers of the rally were to carry out armed revolt. The people, who have given testimony on the details of Khachishvili-Bitsadze plans, were arrested in the Kintsvisi monastery on May 26. Police say the suspects resisted to the officers during the detention operation.
