Trip to Ohiya and Kirigalpottha

Ohiya is a rural village located in Badulla District of Uva Province with a population less than 100. It is much closer to the Horton Plains National Park. The picturesque Colombo -Badulla Railyway runs through Ohiya.
Ohiya is one of the most scenic places in Sri Lanka.

This is the 1st part of the video that i made while visiting the most famous Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya in Sri-Lanka in 2010.

Hike to Kukulagala - Rikillagaskada, Sri Lanka

Its known as an easy one-day hike but it was tough as we missed the route and had to make our own path. however, the view from the top just washed away our fatigue and made us realize that our effort isn't useless.
lots of memories, loads of adventure and another unforgettable day in my life!

Camping at the Horton Plains national park and Kirigalpoththa mountain hike, the second tallest in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka - Beautiful Horton Plains

This is epic. We have started from Ohiya by setting up our Tuk Tuks. Then straight away went to Horton Plains National Park and climbed Mt. Kirigalpoththa, the 2nd highest mountain in Sri Lanka through the breath taking views, springs and green mountains in Horton Plains. Spent the night in a camp site, cooked our own food and next day took the train to Colombo.

Thotupala Mountain Hike | Horton Plains Sri Lanka

Thotupola Kanda, also sometimes referred as the Thotupola Peak or Thotupola Mountain, is the third highest mountain in Sri Lanka situated in Nuwara Eliya district 2,357 m (7,733 ft) above mean sea level. Mountain is placed within the Horton Plains National Park. About two kilometers long trail is there to the top of the mountain that starts few meters away from the Pattipola entrance to the Horton Plains National Park. Most part of the mountain surface is covered with shrubs adapted to the cool and windy climate of Horton Plains National Park.

Further, Thotupola Kanda has the meaning of ‘Landing Site’ in Sinhala language, which related to a legend of Rama and Ravana.
