Kirin Plans Shipments From Quake-Hit Brewery in November
July 15 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Mike Firn reports from Sendai, Japan, on Kirin Holdings Co.'s recovery following the March 11 record earthquake and tsunami.
Kirin, the country's second-largest brewer by volume, posted a first-quarter loss after taking a 5.1 billion yen ($63 million) charge from factory damage caused by the earthquake. (Source: Bloomberg)

On the morning of my Ethiopian friend's birthday, Israel, we were startled and awoken by a Tsunami Alarm. We also had a tour scheduled at the Kirin Beer Factory, but when we found out they were providing FREE BEER, we had to figure out who could drive!
I am an American circus performer currently living and touring in Japan and I catch on the flying trapeze. I am vlogging about my unique life as a foreigner here and want to show the cool, interesting, and weird things in my everyday life.

I went on the Okayama Kirin Beer Factory Tour! It was mainly focused on the Kirin Ichiban Shibori, which I talk about a bit. I've been on the Kirin Beer Factory Okayama tour three times and every time I have had a great time. It has really made me a Kirin beer drinker.

At the Kirin beer factory, there were a lot of people smiling and applauding.
That day saw the first shipment of beer made in that factory since the earthquake.
Until now, that beer had been drunk without any afterthoughts. But after the
earthquake, beer shipments stopped, and when that beer could not be taken
for granted anymore, its very existence took larger proportions.
