It consists of buildings, machines, tools and objects, all of which are used to tell the stories about the work and the social life of those who worked and lived either in the factory area or near Kistefos Pulp Mill.

THE KISTEFOS MUSEUM AND SCULPTURE PARK SEP. 2019
Founded in 1996 upon the initative of Mr. Christen Sveaas. It occupies the site of the old wood-pulp mill which was founded by Consul Anders Sveaas in 1889 and run by the family until it was closed in 1995. The old factory now houses an industrial museum which hosts annual, shifting exhibitions in addition to the sculpture park which focus is sight specific and international contemporary works of art.

As exciting as it is to see a hyped Kusama exhibition in a major city, there is something to be said for encountering her work in more remote locations.
These polka-dotted tentacles emerging from a black lagoon can be found in Norway, at the Kistefos Museum and Sculpture Park. The work is titled 'Shine of Life' and is a recent addition to the complex, which is located in the growing art hub of Hadeland, about an hour and a half outside Oslo. Another new addition to the Kistefos Museum is an exhibition space designed by Danish superstar Bjarke Ingels. Called 'The Twist,' this structure forms a bridge over the Ranselva River.

bjarke ingels group has revealed plans for a new museum building to be constructed in the grounds of norway’s kistefos sculpture park. BIG’s design — developed in collaboration with AKT II, max fordham, davis langdon, and GCAM — measures a total of 1,400 square meters, with construction work set to start in 2016. the sculpture park, which is home to works by anish kapoor, olafur eliasson and elmgreen & dragset, is located one hour north of oslo, adjacent to jevnaker’s river randselva. built around a historic paper mill, the site occupies both embankments of the waterway, with an old bridge serving as the only crossing.
the proposed design has been conceived as a simple beam that spans the river, forming a second bridge for the site. a twist in the building’s volume allows the structure to emerge from the lower forested area, towards the elevated hillside opposite. ‘this creates a series of interconnected spaces,’ explains BIG. ‘a vertical stack of galleries for media, paintings, and sculpture to the south, and a horizontal, open gallery, ideal for sculptures and large installations, to the north’.

AKT II | The Twist
In our next collaboration with AKT II, we travelled to Kiestofos Sculpture Park in Jevnaker Norway to produce a short piece showcasing The Twist - a unique structure situated between scenic forested riverbanks. The Twist functions as both a crossing over the Randselva River and as an indoor exhibition space used to showcase contemporary artwork.
Somewhat unique to this film was the desire to push in a different creative direction to our previous collaborations with AKT II. With the majority of the previous films set within cityscapes and urban environments, The Twist project allowed us to showcase a unique structure with impressive design and function amongst the Norweigan countryside.
As a result, the cinematography evokes elegant sensibilities versus an energetic aesthetic. Sound recordings of the river and surrounding area were used to create a soundscape to immerse the viewer in the location. Finally, a celluloid film-inspired colour grade was carried out, complimenting the green and brown shades on display.
