A store of glass products representing Otaru that was founded in 1901. Original wares with a Japanese feel are in abundance here. At the tearoom Kitaichi Hall, there are 167 glass lamps illuminated where you can enjoy tea time and a light meal within the wondrous shop.

A group of stone warehouses that were built along the canal in the early 20th century. Now the warehouses are being reused mainly as restaurants which include Otaru Soko No. 1 for local beer, Otaru Unga Shokudo for Hokkaido dishes and the Goldstone Café which is a café and bar.

Day 13-1: Otaru Canal and Kitaichi Glass Pavilion
Otaru Canal is a canal adorned with Victorian style street lamps runs through Otaru.
Kitaichi Glass dates back to 1901. There are several stores and art galleries.

Sakaimachi Street (Sakaimachi Dōri) is an attractive, preserved merchant street in central Otaru. It lies near by city's canal area. During the development of Hokkaido in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Otaru flourished as a port city, and many trading and shipping companies constructed impressive Western style buildings in the city center to house their shops and offices.
Many of the buildings along Sakaimachi Street have since been converted into cafes, restaurants, souvenir shopsand museums. There are a few glass workshops for tourists to enjoy a hands-on experience in creating the local Otaru Glass.
Music Box Museum
The Music Box Museum consists of multiple buildings scattered around the southern end of Sakaimachi Street. One of them houses a small museum about music boxes. The most prominent building is a large shop with a wide variety of music boxes on sale. In front of the building stands a steam clock, which was a present by the city of Vancouver.
