KITZBÜHEL : The sophisticated city is international known as one of the most important winter sports resorts in Austria. 8272 inhabitants and 1271 recognized as city Kitzbühel. Copper mining was already 3000 years BC. Chr .; In the Middle Ages Kitzbühel was taken over by the Bavarians, and came under Maximilian d. I. 1504 to Austria. Although the king of Sweden had penetrated in the 17th century, Kitzbühel was largely spared wars.
The First and the 2nd World War also passed Kitzbühel, which explains the intact medieval city. Remains of the city wall, which was already removed in the Middle Ages, can still be seen on the old archways. The great attraction is therefore the medieval old town, with the front town and the back town, as well as the three old Gothic churches: the Katharinen church - 13.JH.- with gothic preserved interior, in the center of the old town, and the parish church of St. Andrew and the Liebfrauenkirche from the 14th century.
Since 1950, ski tourism has become significant and the Kitzbühel Ski Center has gained international reputation under Toni Sailer.
The annual Hahnenkamm downhill run in January has become an international spectacle. Thus, the Streif and the Hahnenkamm, as well as the Kitzbühler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser Mountains are also among the city's landmarks. Finally, one must not forget the Schwarzsee.

Die mondäne Stadt ist international als einer der bedeutendsten Wintersportorte Österreichs bekannt. 8272 Einwohner und 1271 als Stadt Kitzbühel anerkannt. Den Kupferbergbau gab es schon 3000 Jahre v. Chr.; im Mittelalter wurde Kitzbühel von den Bajuwaren vereinnahmt, und kam unter Maximilian d. I. 1504 zu Österreich. Obwohl schon der König von Schweden im 17. JH bis hierher vordrang, blieb Kitzbühel weitgehend von Kriegen verschont.
Auch der Erste und der 2. Weltkrieg ging an Kitzbühel vorbei, was die intakte mittelalterliche Stadt erklärt. Reste der Stadtmauer, die im Mittelalter bereits abgetragen wurde, sind an den alten Torbögen noch zu erkennen. Die große Sehenswürdigkeit stellt daher die mittelalterliche Altstadt dar, mit der Vorderstadt und der Hinterstadt, sowie den drei alten gotischen Kirchen: der Katharinen Kirche - 13.JH.- mit gotisch erhaltenem Innenraum, im Zentrum der Altstadt, sowie der Pfarrkirche St. Andreas und der Liebfrauenkirche aus dem 14. JH.
Seit 1950 wurde der Ski-Tourismus bedeutsam und das Kitzbühler Ski-Zentrum bekam internationalen Ruf unter Toni Sailer.
Die jährliche Hahnenkamm Abfahrt im Jänner ist ein internationales Spektakel geworden. So gehören die Streif und der Hahnenkamm, sowie das Kitzbühler Horn und der Wilde Kaiser ebenfalls zu den Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Zuletzt darf man auch nicht den Schwarzsee vergessen.
