Sharm EL Sheikh. Egypt

Blue Bus from Cairo to Sharm el Sheikh
Hi travellers,
Are you travelling around Egypt? Blue Bus is a newish company that offers transportation to the major cities. They are an alternative to Go Bus, more expensive, but it is more comfortable. In this video I show travelling from Cairo to Sharm el Sheikh.
With free wifi, snacks, entertainment and bathroom included onboard and recliner seats it does make for a comfortable journey.
Use their website (not an affiliate link) to book your next trip. I registered and used one of the hotel workers phone numbers ( you need an Egyptian phone number as part of the registration). I also had some trouble using my foreign credit card to pay (it shouldn't be as they accept Visa and MasterCard). However, I called the help line and they spoke excellent English and helped me.
I used the fawry system to pay for my ticket. Book online and choose fawry as your payment option. Then head out to find a convenience stall, usually on every corner. Ask for fawry, and say Blue Bus. It is a newish company, so they may not know this is an option. They will tell you your name and then pay ( I tend to use cash). They give you a receipt, which you just hand over at the bus terminal. I had never heard of this system before and am a big fan.
This trip cost 305LE. It is a business class seat.
Be aware when leaving your accomodation your Uber or taxi may not know where the Blue Bus terminal is, despite them saying yes I know, and take you to Go Bus. Have Google maps going and for your peace of mind make the driver stick to that route. On the Bus Blue website they provide links to the bus terminals in case your driver thinks they know better and go rouge. Hmm, am I just sharing my possible experience hehe.
Tips: Pack your passport handy in case some police official needs to see it on route
Pack your own headphones
An eye mask is essential, as not everyone closes the curtains and it is bright once the sun comes up
Phone charging cord as USB charging is provided
Use the bathroom before you get on the bus. It gets pretty well used as the trip goes on.
With on board free wifi (ask the driver for password), you can have your Uber waiting at the terminal when you arrive. If this fails you can go to the Blue Bus counter on arrival and ask them to order an Uber for you. I also had great luck with this and it saves the hassle of not knowing how much the trip should be to your accomodation to know if the waiting taxis are ridiculously overcharging you as a foreigner.
Overall, I felt very safe to fall asleep and would use this company again in a heartbeat.

Blue Bus Hurghada to Cairo | first class seating
Hi travellers,
Are you travelling domestically in Egypt and do not want to fly? Check out this video as an alternative to Go Bus.
I have used Blue Bus throughout my travels in Egypt, from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh, to Dahab, to Hurghada, and now back to Cairo.
This is my last travel before heading to the airport, so I decided to pay for first class seating. This trip cost 360LE. For that you get a large single seat, where the next passenger is across the aisle, snack pack, on-board entertainment and free Wifi. The first class section takes up the first half of the bus, and the second half is dedicated to business class seating.
I took Uber from the hotel to the bus terminal. Check out the hotel review from Hurghada:
This bus leaves Hurghada at 1pm and is scheduled to arrive into Cairo at 6:45pm. There are a few different stops in Cairo, just ask the driver which is the best one for you to get off. I went inside the Blue Bus office upon arrival into Cairo and asked them to order me an Uber to the airport. It worked out very well, and I paid the driver in cash.
Things to bring on-board:
passport
headphones
a sweater (in case the air con is on full)
sleeping mask if you would like to snooze as it is bright

Accomodation review Sharm el Sheikh | Il Mercato
Hi travellers,
Are you going to holiday in Sharm El Sheikh? You do not have to stay on the main beach. In this video I show inside the all inclusive resort I stayed in whilst in Sharm.
I opted for the all inclusive, a first for me, as the price difference was fairly minimal. 3 buffet style meals are included, along with afternoon tea snacks and all beverages available from the different bars during the day, both soft drinks and alcoholic (if you're not Egyptian).
This resort offers access to two different beaches offsite. A shuttle is available to catch, every hour, to the reef and the beach. At the reef I did have to pay 50LE upon arrival and deck chairs are available for use. I used the towel card and bought a resort towel with me to both locations. The beach has an onsite bar, where you can have the same drinks as available freely within the resort. At the reef you have to pay. There is limited seating on the bus, so come early and walk quickly as the bus arrives at the back of the resort. It's on a first come, first served basis and you will have to wait for the next shuttle if there are no seats.
There are 4 different pools in the resort, where you can chill and swim.
Everyday there are activities from yoga, to performances on some evenings.
One day I did travel down to the main beach and it was resort, resort, resort. There is one small patch of public beach access. Plus some expensive shopping, but there are the usual suspects of Hard Rock Cafe, Starbucks and McDonald's. You can call an Uber, or catch a cab from the front of the hotel.
The area where the hotel is located seems quiet. Outside there are some souvenir stores, and McDonald's. There is an onsite supermarket, however, the prices are higher. You can walk down the street and find others. For example, I bought water shoes at a nearby supermarket for less than offered at the onsite supermarket.
The old market is near the resort and I did walk one evening to check out the mosque and do a spot of shopping.
I paid for this hotel through Booking.com

CAIRO, EGYPT FIRST IMPRESSIONS: WOW!
From the relative calm of Europe we travel to the chaos and craziness of Egypt and back to conventional means of travel. We discover an amazing city with markets, museums and the friendliest people. A great start to the next leg of our adventures!
A couple of middle-aged Kiwis travelling the world by plane, train and motorhome. The kids left home and so did we! We’re not professionals, we’re not experts, we just like to record what we see and do. Enjoy!

Because I love to hike.
Anyway, now I found something and maybe we see us there again. Now I am back to work ????

Shopping at Khan El-Khalili souq | Cairo, Egypt
Hi travellers,
Are you wanting to do a spot of shopping in Cairo? Looking for a unique gift or souvenir? Get ready to use your bargaining skills at the Khan El Khalili souq in Cairo.
This market is very old and the buildings are just beautiful. As you walk through the market you can see the gorgeous old architecture.
Even if you don't end up buying anything it's worth a look to see where locals have been shopping for centuries.
In this video you see some of the products available. I went with a friend and we had dinner there and tried out my new favourite drink, a sugar cane juice.

Dahab highlights | Places to visit in Egypt
Hi travellers,
Another amazing place to visit in Egypt is Dahab. It's such a chilled spot, away from the crowds and noise of other parts of Egypt. With gorgeous blue water of the Red Sea, at your doorstep.
Unfortunately, my underwater camera was ruined at the Blue Hole so in this video it's all the pictures I managed to salvage.
The major things to see in Dahab are the beautiful beaches, you can learn to dive here as there are many dive shops. Snorkelling on the water front is possible, but it is better if you walk around the strip.
I stayed at the Dahab Plaza hotel that I booked through booking.com ( It came with breakfast included daily, a lovely pool to relax, free WIFI and THE most helpful hotel owner. Gosh he went absolutely out of his way to help me. He even tracked down contact lenses for me. Just amazing!
As you walk down the main strip there are plenty of tour places offering day trips to the Blue Hole and Mt Sinai, which are the major draw cards nearby.
The strip of restaurants and shops are worth a look, and really comes alive at night.

Diving in Hurghada, Egypt
Hi travellers,
Have you ever scuba dived before? In Hurghada, Egypt you can do day dives as a first timer with quick instructions on hand signals and in your go.
I have previously only snorkelled so it was an amazing opportunity to have a go at diving without signing up for a course.
The hotel where I stayed organised a day trip for $35USD, which included all dive equipment, boat trip, transfers, instructor and lunch. There are two dives, one in the morning and one after lunch, for approximately 20-30minutes underwater, each time.
A driver picked me up from my accomodation and dropped me to meet my instructor for the day. Other people may or may not be with your same instructor. The boat has many divers, some like me for their first time, and others more experienced. My instructor also had 2 other first time divers, so they went first. This means you may have time to snorkel before your dive
Initially, I had trouble breathing through the apparatus and did panic. However, my instructor was amazing and calmed me down and away we went.
Bring - camera, sunscreen, towel, bathing suit, sunglasses and a sense of adventure!
I have been in Egypt for a number of days at this point and used Blue Bus to travel domestically. Plus booking.com to book my hotels along the way.
It was an amazing experience and a wonderful taste of what learning to dive maybe like, without having to sign up for the 3 day course. But now I do want to learn to dive.
They dress you in a wetsuit and organise all the gear.
I did pay extra for the underwater go-pro photos my instructor took. And for those of you who have been following along my journey you know that my camera had died at this point.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
