The reef that surrounds #KleinBonaire lures in over a million tourists each year.
Thanks to #CaribeWatersport, we got to see what the fuss is all about and why people are traveling across the world for #BonaireSnorkeling, but more specifically for the majestic Klein Bonaire.

Jewel of the Seas | Day 6 Vlog | Bonaire | Water Taxi to Klein & Awesome Snorkeling!
Today we are in the next stop of the ABC Islands…Kralendijk, Bonaire! This is day 6 aboard Royal Caribbean’s Jewel of the Seas, and we could not be more in love with this port of call! We took a Caribe water taxi to Klein (which is essentially a small island off the coast of the Bonaire mainland). On Klein we snorkeled down “No Name Beach” and had the most spectacular snorkeling adventure! On the reef we saw a multitude of fish, including more Parrot Fish than we could count! Once back on board had fun on the ship with activities such as trivia and adult karaoke! We had the most beautiful day on Bonaire and we hope you enjoy this video! Bonaire National Marine Park - A Marine Protected Area (MPA)
The sea around Bonaire and Klein Bonaire is protected and managed by STINAPA through the Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP). The Marine Park surrounds the entire island from the high water mark to the depth of 60 meters (200ft). Activities in the Marine Park are subject to payment.
Bonaire has a long history of marine preservation, beginning with turtle protection in 1961, the prohibition of spear fishing in 1971, and protection for coral, dead or alive, in 1975.
The BNMP has existed since 1979. It has had consistent management since 1991. The challenges to managing the ecosystems that form the BNMP are dramatically increasing as the economy of Bonaire has grown in the past years. For this reason legislation was put in place in order to protect the natural resources of the marine environment. A mandatory orientation for scuba divers is part of this legislation.
All SCUBA divers must attend an orientation with their dive operator (the center from which air tanks are obtained) before diving in the BNMP. The orientation consists of a ‘dry’ part and a ‘wet’ part. The ‘dry’ part is a briefing on the Bonaire National Marine Park rules. The ‘wet’ part of the orientation is the buoyancy check out dive, which is always supervised by the dive operation providing air.

SWIMMING WITH SEA TURTLES | SNORKELING KLEIN BONAIRE | SAILING ON CARIBBEAN WATERS
Bonaire is world-renowned for it's epic diving and snorkeling, so Dan and Chelle HAD to get out in those waters to take it in for themselves! The booked a snorkeling tour with This Is How We Bingham through Woodwind Snorkel Tours and it DID NOT disappoint! They sailed on Caribbean waters out to Klein Bonaire, which is a small uninhabited island off the coast of the main island of Bonaire. Klein Bonaire is a protected natural preserve and it showed! The coral, fish and turtles were all so amazing. They saw multiple turtles, tons of schools of fish and so much colorful coral. What an amazing experience!

Klein Bonaire
Klein Bonaire is a small uninhabited island located just off the coast of Bonaire. It is about half a mile from Bonaire at its closest point. The island encompasses over 1500 acres. The development of Klein Bonaire was attempted a few times in the past. The final try in 1995, was also unsuccessful. Concerned locals rallied to save Klein Bonaire from development. The Foundation for the Preservation of Klein Bonaire (FPKB) was born. Through efforts of the FPKB and other concerned parties, and monies from the Department of the Interior and Kingdom Affairs of the Netherlands, the World Nature Fundation of the Netherlands and FPKB, the government purchased the island. Klein Bonaire is included in the protection of the Bonaire National Marine Park and is home to turtle nesting grounds.

A Day in Bonaire - Snorkeling on Klein Bonaire
November 27th, 2015, I returned to an Island I last visited in 1975. Much has changed but the reef off Klein Bonaire is still colorful and teaming with life. We arrived on Bonaire by Cruise Sip Serenade of the Seas and boarded a water taxi to the small island, about a 15 minute ride. We had two terrific guides who explained about the current and the easy way to drift along the reef by walking up current for about a mile and entering through a break in the surf. From experience this is a run out and the current takes you right through the surf to the outside of the reef line where drifting along is effortless and relaxing. We spent about 45 minutes drifting along shooting video the entire trip. The last time I was here I used a 25 pound 16mm film camera with a big heavy light. GoPro sure makes it easy 40 years later!
We arrived back at the town Peer in plenty of time to do a little shopping at a small market square and picked up some CD's of Musika Di Bonaire in the native language.
This is a 3D side by side video. The surface content was shot with a 3D camera. The underwater was shot in 2D and converted.
