Lodi 'Outside the Box' Thanksgiving
This very special virtual tasting is a prelude to Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season. Never ones to follow the crowd, Lodi’s innovative vintners have teamed up with noted wine pairing specialist, Chef Tony Lawrence, to serve up delicious wines and recipes that go well beyond the standard Pinot/Beaujolais/Grenache recommendations. To learn more about the Lodi AVA and wines, please visit lodiwine.com and follow Lodi on Twitter at @Lodi_Wine.
Your hosts tonight are Stuart Spencer, owner and winemaker at St. Amant Winery (@stamantwine) and Program Manager at the Lodi Winegrape Commission, Layne Montgomery, winemaker at m2 Wines (@m2wines), Susan Tipton, owner and winemaker at Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards (@AcquiesceWine), Adam Mettler, winemaker at Mettler Family Vineyards (@MettlerWines) and General Manager and lead winemaker at Michael David Winery (@MDWinery). Together, they will taste us through the following unique and delicious wines and their fabulous food pairings - thoughtfully put together by noted wine pairing specialist, Chef Tony Lawrence (@winechef):
Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards 2014 Viognier (SRP $23.00) paired with Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque

Located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Lodi is approximately 100 miles east of San Francisco and 35 miles south of Sacramento. A major winegrowing region since the 1850's, Lodi is home to over 100,000 acres of premium vineyards farmed by more than 750 growers.
With more than 100 varieties currently being cultivated, Lodi offers a diverse portfolio of wines. While long renowned for its high-quality Zinfandel production, including an estimated 2,000 acres of pre-Prohibition own rooted vines, the area also produces some of the most versatile, food friendly varieties in the world, including mouthwatering Picpoul and Kerner, juicy Carignane and delicate old vine Cinsault, complex Iberian, Italian and Alsatian styles and beyond, many of which pair perfectly with the often tricky cornucopia of flavors at the Thanksgiving table.
The region owes much of its recent success to the increase in critical and consumer attention paid to Lodi-designate wines. In fact, the past 10-15 years has seen astronomical growth in demand for Lodi wines, as well as in tourism to the wine region. Today, Lodi is home to over 85 boutique wineries specializing in small-lot, handmade wines that have garnered major awards at domestic and international wine competitions. In addition, Lodi is one of the leading wine regions when it comes to sustainable viticulture. The Lodi Winegrape Commission created Lodi Rules™, California's first third-party-certified sustainable winegrowing program, which recently won Governor Jerry Brown's annual Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA) - the highest environmental award in the state of California - for its mission to address major environmental, economic and social challenges facing California agricultural industry.

Monarch 2013 Lodi Syrah
Tasting the last featured WineShop At Home's Monarch 2013 Lodi Syrah. Monarch 2013 Lodi Syrah has a deep violet color, almost black. The nose has a lot of dark fruit like blueberry and blackberry. There is a light violet fragrance and a nice amount of vanilla. The mouthfeel is chewy and harmonious. Tannins are fairly big, but finish round with a lot of length. This wine has a medium body with an ageing capability of at least 4 years. The flavors of the wine open the field for many great pairings, including pasta dishes with sauces, chicken or marinated pork. Camembert, Monterey and cheddar cheese will pair well with this wine. Try it at ArtisanTastings.com

on delicious wines peacefully. Imagine the memories you will create camping on a lush vineyard or a gorgeous farm with your family! Perhaps you should consider Harvest Hosts then!
Sold already? Use our code and link below to get 15% off your membership!
What is Harvest Host
Harvest Host is a membership network that invites self contained
RVers to camp overnight at a network of more than 792 locations
consisting of breweries, distilleries, wineries, farms, museums and
other attractions for free!
What types of RV's are allowed?
All classes of RV's including motor coaches are allowed. The only restriction
is that they must be self contained. This means you have an interior toilet with
tanks or some sort of composting system.
Unfortunately tents, campers with tent pop-outs, minivans and sleeping in
trucks or cars are restricted.
Do hosts offer electricity or water?
Some hosts may, however as a rule expect no hook-ups.
Can you I use a generator?
Generally, yes you can but it's best to call ahead and make sure.
How long can I stay?
Harvest Hosts is designed as an overnight program with stays of a maximum 24 hours.
It is frowned upon to ask your host if you can stay an additional night.
However, your host may invite you to stay another night at their discretion.
Must I buy something?
You are encouraged to buy something to show your appreciation to your hosts
for their hospitality. On average we spend around 20.00. We look at it as we
get some great products or experience an amazing event or location that we
probably would have paid for anyways and then we get free camping on top of that.
Are pets allowed?
Almost all Harvest Host sites allow pets. Some allow them inside and others
require the pets to stay in the parking area.
We are traveling with friends, do they need to be a Harvest Host member too?
Each RV vehicle will need a Harvest Host membership to stay overnight at
any Harvest Host location.
What are the parking areas like?
The parking surface might be concrete, asphalt, gravel, grass or dirt.
You may be in the Host’s parking lot, or in a field, orchard or vineyard.
This will be listed on the Host information page and you can verify this
when you call to let them know you are visiting.
How much does it cost?
There are 2 plans.
Classic
The first plan is Harvest Host classic and that plan
allows you access to all of breweries, distilleries, wineries, farms, museums and
event locations. This plan costs $79.00 a year. Which is Typically paid for in the
cost of two stays at a Harvest Host site vs. a campground.
Harvest Host + Golf
This plan allows access to all the classic locations as well as golf courses
which is about 1136 locations. This plan costs $119.00 a year. Which is Typically
paid for in the cost of three stays at a Harvest Host site vs. a campground.
