“Knob Noster State Park is a public recreation area covering 3,934 acres (1,592 ha) in Johnson County, Missouri, in the United States. The state park bears the name of the nearby town of Knob Noster, which itself is named for one of two small hills or knobs that rise up in an otherwise flat section of Missouri. Noster is a Latin adjective meaning our—therefore, Knob Noster translates as our hill. A local Indian belief stated that the hills were raised up as monuments to slain warriors. Finger Lakes State Park
Finger Lakes State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Missouri consisting of 1,128 acres in Boone County near the city of Columbia. The park is unusual in that the site was reclaimed after having been strip mined for coal. Between 1964 and 1967 the area was known as Peabody Coal's Mark Twain Mine, from which the company removed 1.2 million short tons of coal. Peabody donated the land to the state for use as a park, and the state restored the site with one of a dozen federal grants issued with the intent to demonstrate the conversion of strip-mined land to recreational use.

Wandering Walk through Watkins Mill State Park
This week's video is a Wandering Walk through Watkins Mill State Park and Historic site in Lawson, MO.
Stepping on to the grounds of Watkins Woolen Mill State Historic Site is like stepping into 19th century. Many of the buildings that Waltus Watkins spent half a century building – including an elegant home and a three-story woolen mill – have been preserved to give walkers a sense of life in the 1870s. The mill is the only 19th century textile mill in the United States with its original machinery still intact.
Throughout the park are beautiful trails along streams and great views of a gorgeous lake.
